As a member of the Global Technology Services (GTS) division, you will contribute to all aspects of the technology products and services we deliver, from technical strategy and design to coding to deployment to operation. Our GTS products and services are leveraged across all Business Unit Platforms within the Bank to deliver industry-leading software including: CommBank App, Netbank, CommSee, CommSec, CommBiz and Commbank.com.au.
This position will pre-dominantly be based at Commonwealth Bank’s state of the art Eveleigh office’s although we also provide flexible working conditions and also provide the opportunity to work remotely or in a hybrid environment

Database Services is responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of the Technology division, which includes CommSee, CommBiz, Payments, Mobile Apps and Netbank. These systems rely on Oracle RDBMS, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL and more recently NoSQL databases, as well as purpose-built database engines.
Database Services is a team of development specialists and PL/SQL & SSIS/TSQL developers whom design and implement functional and non-functional enhancements and additions to these systems.
You will be working in a close-knit database squad whose main focus is to modernise CBA Payment Platform in public cloud. This include design, build and run new database workload in public cloud and transform current workload to public cloud managed databases.
Overall you will be involved in:
Deliver, support and enhance Cloud (AWS & AZURE) database solutions with Cloud Formation Template, aws CLI and equivalent tools in AZURE.
Migrate database workload from data centre to public cloud through re-engineering and modernisation.
Support database software releases from DevOps team and assist in testing and problem analysis.
Install, configure and administer cloud native database solutions.
Automate tasks via shell scripting, ansible playbook and other automation tools.
Collaborate with business analyst, development, testing and architect teams, in order to design and build critical business applications;
Design application logical database requirements and implement physical solutions
Develop back-end database code to support business requirements
We’re interested in hearing from people who possess:
Engineering experience in IT industry in either DevOPS build domain or database engineering. Recent exposure with AWS infrastructure coding desired.
Fluency in AWS coding interface (CDK or command line interface), AZURE equivalent and Python.
Independence problem identification and problem resolution. Strong research abilities. Can work effectively with vendor support.
Experience working with database technology (preferred, Oracle, Postgres and/or MongoDB in either administration or development capacity in a commercial environment).
Ability to script in Linux Shell script and/or Ansible.
Capable of reviewing existing code (Cloud formation templates, Lamdba Python scripts, Shell Scripts, Ansible Scripts/Playbooks, SQL scripts) .
Ability and drive in learning new tools within a short timeframe
Strong team player with excellent communication abilities.
