Job Description : Morrison Water Services are currently looking to recruit a Cost Accountant to work on our Southern Water MGJV Contract in Falmer, East Sussex.

As a Cost Accountant you will be part of commercial team and be responsible to collate, interrogate and reconcile cost information, maintaining detailed and accurate records to enable timely and effective allocation of costs to maximise cash flow and minimise Risk & WIP. This role will require working from the office and remotely from home.

As the Cost Account your duties and responsibilities will be:

Parent Company Invoice & Cost to Employ (CTE) Reconciliation
Interrogate costs allocated from Parent Companies into MGJV are allowable under the contract.
Liaise with relevant company departments to ensure relevant back-up is provided.
Update and maintain central registers and ensure all supporting information is controlled and maintained in a methodical manner
Raise relevant Parent Company invoices
Apportion Parent Company invoices into Oracle system managing relevant credits and journals where required.
Update & maintain Central CTE register with actual costs following reconciliation and receipt of Parent Company Invoices
Application For Payment & WIP Management
Assist with the collation and review of monthly Staff time sheets an input of employee monthly hours into Master Application file.
Liaise with QS’s to ensure Project Applications are submitted within set monthly timescales
Review Applications to ensure they are consistent with set template.
Upload Project Applications into Master Application file in a methodical manner and in line with set format ensuring relevant links are maintained into Application Summary
Calculate and reallocate Project Management Costs across Projects
Update and maintain Retention tracker, including applying for retention release where applicable
Raise and submit Monthly JV Applications for Payment to Southern Water in line with agreed timescales.
Raise invoice and issue to Southern Water in line with agreed timescales
Update Invoice Summary, Cash forecast/allocation/reconciliation for GT Finance.
Engage/liaise with JV Commercial Team / Southern Water /regularly, i.e.
Create and ensure all registers are up to date and completed correctly prior to internal and external auditing

Skills and Knowledge Requirements:

A degree in Commercial Management/Quantity Surveying or other construction related subject or substantial previous experience in a similar position is desired but not essential.
A commercially and contractually astute individual that takes ownership of performance
Intermediate to advanced Excel skills – Ability to demonstrate VLookUps & Pivot Tables
Results driven individual with the capability of working on their own initiative
Ability to prioritise workload when managing multiple contracts / tasks
Ability to work accurately under pressure to meet project targets
Ability to deal with large amounts of data accurately and efficiently
The ability to work responsibly from home.
