Salary: £55,428 – £60,000

The Opportunity
IPSD has an opening for an Engine System Performance Cross Platform Validation Lead, located in the United Kingdom primarily working from our Peterborough Campus. As the Engine System Performance Cross Platform Validation Lead, you will own and drive the current product systems performance validation process for all IPSD-Medium product, working alongside highly talented Performance Systems validation engineers to deliver production validation sign-off for all IPSD-Medium product updates. You will have the opportunity to shape the vision for Proactive Validation; validating product through the development process to production moving the validation upstream. You will collaborate globally across IPSD, working with partners in Systems Engineering, Electronics, Performance and Emissions, Components Engineering, Application teams, Proving Test tests, Field follow teams, CPI Team and Product teams to enable world class Power System solutions to be validated throughout development and for initial and subsequent production release.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Own and lead the current Global Post-Production Validation Process across all IPSD-Medium platforms, delivering Performance System Validation Sign-Off for software, calibration and hardware updates to meet planned individual platform production requirements.
Deliver Post-Production Validation Process improvements through Lean continuous improvement working with the Validation Subject Matter Expert and Virtual Platform Validation Leads and through targeted larger scale process improvement activities, working with cross-platform and cross-functional teams.
Collaborate with the Performance Systems Architects, Leads and Virtual Platform Validation Lead to manage cross platform validation requirements to prioritise workload and focus to meet individual platform production requirements.
Drive strong collaboration across key process partners in Systems Engineering, Electronics, Performance and Emissions, Components Engineering, Application teams, Proving Test tests, Field follow teams, CPI Team and Product teams.
Mentor and provide technical leadership to a team of highly engaged and talented System Performance Validation Engineers in the UK and China, delivering a collaborative culture ensuring cross platform alignment on process and any common issues found in either process or product are shared in a timely fashion.
Understand and appreciate current and future power systems regulatory requirements through collaboration with the Performance Systems Regulation and Compliance team to ensure production validation of compliance.
Support the Validation Manager with the definition and vision for the Proactive Validation process and enabling tools; defining the validation process for development of new products aligning to the ‘New Product Introduction’ process and enabling the validation to be move earlier in both the product development cycle and validation process.
Understand and appreciate the IPSD-M technology strategy through collaboration with ‘New Technology Introduction’ project teams to understand the impact of the new technologies on future Performance System Performance Validation.
Validation robustness may significantly impact product performance in the field, compliance, durability, reliability, quality and serviceability, warranty, and customer perceptions.
Required Qualifications Experience & Skills:
An accredited Engineering, Bachelors / Masters degree or PhD.
Comprehensive and relevant engine performance experience and excellent analytical skills.
Experience in combined Engine, Aftertreatment, controls system performance, verification and validation.
Self-starter with strong communication, technical leadership, project management and business management skills.
Able to communicate technical information effectively with team members and others in the work group, as well employees in other units, customers, and suppliers.
Ability to build effective relationships across a matrix organization

Desired Qualifications & Experience:
Deep technical knowledge and experience of Engine & Aftertreatment Systems Integration and associated controls systems.
Significant experience and process knowledge of software and calibration verification and validation. such as risk-based validation, FMEA, DVP&R, and supporting data analysis.
Focus on process adherence and development with the ability to drive continuous improvement through methods such as Six-Sigma and Lean.
Comprehensive Caterpillar engine system experience in IPSD.
Experience with end-customer applications.
Fundamental understanding of Systems Engineering validation methodologies and tools
Technical credibility.
Understanding of the business and the customers’ business needs.
