Job Description
Square provides a full-service payroll product with automated tax filings and employee benefits all in one place. As we expand into new tax jurisdictions and sellers with more complex taxes, we need to increase our compliance systems to identify and address issues that arise with tax filings. You will build the vision and set requirements for a compliance system that stays up-to-date with the policy landscape, provides high-level reporting and measurement of compliance performance, and allows us to troubleshoot issues as they arise, and prioritize solutions with Product and Engineering teams.
You Will:
Design a system for measuring our tax system compliance; report on our compliance rate
Decompose the top-level system functions, behaviors and features into a set of requirements that specify the expected end-to-end system behavior.
Establish large-scale system level testing on all tax policies to achieve compliance goals
Ensure that the required documents are necessary and comply with all applicable taxes and policies
Communicate early and often with partner teams, document the requirements and decisions, hold reviews
Establish verification and validation strategies and test methods for the function or behavior, at the integrated system level, that verifies the end-to-end implementation of the function
Identify risks and work with multiple departments to develop mitigations and countermeasures
Project manage large testing exercises & strategize how to accomplish testing more efficiently

Qualifications
You Have:
5+ years of experience in consulting, financial services, or high growth startups.
Experience delivering complex projects.
Firm grasp of software development lifecycles and Agile methodologies best practices.
Experience with SQL or an analytical aptitude.
The ability to create clarity and break down complex projects into manageable, interdependent deliverables.
The ability to understand and deal well with rapid development cycles and to remain flexible in the face of uncertainty.
Experience managing trade-offs given specific constraints.
Excellent communication, organizational and leadership skills; ability to inspire team members.
