Job Description : About the role
Research & Evaluation, incorporating ASERNIP-S (R&E, inc. ASERNIP-S) conducts research for RACS. Our research encompasses a wide range of topics, primarily focusing on health technology assessment (HTA). This area combines a variety of research fields including clinical sciences, literature review, data analysis, economic modelling, and financial forecasts. Clients, both locally and internationally, rely on the research outcomes to make decisions on whether a health technology should be invested in for the health system.

The Research Officer works as part of a team responsible for the completion of nominated HTAs and other research projects. The main tasks involve conducting data analysis, designing, and executing economic models and producing high quality research reports.

As a new member of the team, adequate support and mentoring will be provided by peer research fellows and senior team members. Structured on-job training will also be available to allow the exposure to various types of projects and clients. We welcome applications from candidates who have recently completed a relevant qualification in health sciences or with experience and transferable skills.

While the role is Adelaide based, for the right candidate we would consider a remote working arrangement with the candidate based in an inter-state RACS office.

The position will be offered on a Full-time, two-year contract.

The key areas of responsibility are to:

Apply a variety of analytical techniques to draw insights from published literature for clinical data synthesis and interpretation.
Assist in the development and execution of health economic models with relevant techniques including cost-effectiveness analysis and budgetary forecasts.
Prepare high quality assessment reports for commissioned health technology assessment projects.
Support senior staff and project leaders in their engagement of internal and external stakeholders by preparing briefings, position statements and other documents as required.
Support senior staff, Team Leaders and the manager by preparing funding and grant proposals or tenders.

Skills and experience

Essential: Tertiary qualification in health sciences including medicine, public health, epidemiology with a strong focus in quantitative analytical skills.
Essential: Ability to plan and meet deadlines.
Essential: Excellent literary and report writing skills.
Desirable: Postgraduate degree with research components in health economics, statistics and HTA
Essential: Demonstrated understanding with hands-on experience in data analytic techniques, probability theories, and statistical modelling.
Essential: Demonstrated understanding of health economic frameworks, models, and techniques.
Essential: Demonstrated understanding of evidence-based medicine and systematic reviews, including literature searches, critical appraisal of clinical evidence, and data extraction and synthesis.
Desirable: Demonstrated skills in using software packages (preferably syntax-based) to conduct data analytics, statistical modelling, and health economic evaluations.
