Job Description
The Senior Technical Writer/Content Developer works in the User Enablement team to write, edit, and design technical documentation for insightsoftware products. We are looking for candidates who are:
Capable of understanding and clearly describing complex technical information
Comfortable working independently and in a team
Confident soliciting information from subject matter experts
Capable of guiding junior members in the User Enablement team
Enthusiastic about learning new skills, technical processes, and tools
Able to juggle multiple responsibilities and shifting priorities
What will you do?
Write various types of online software documentation for developers, administrators and end users, in the form of installation guides, administrator guides, API reference content, knowledge articles and release notes
Work closely with Product Management, Engineering and other subject matter experts to deliver comprehensive and consistent content
Install and use assigned insightsoftware products, and develop an in-depth understanding of them
Contribute to documentation for multiple product lines
Serve as Editor for multiple product lines by applying style guide rules
Contribute to team policies and procedures
Adhere to insightsoftware documentation processes, standards, and schedules
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
5+ years of technical writing experience in a software company
5+ years of experience with modern content creation and content management tools, particularly MadCap Flare/Madcap Central, and GitHub
Fluency in the English language, styles, and conventions, with the ability to master technical concepts and explain them in terms appropriate for the target audience
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to collaborate with others in writing, editing, and reviewing large or complex documents
Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, English, or other major
Knowledge of HTML, XML, and related technologies
Familiarity with structured documentation and single-source authoring
Familiarity with development processes for software and documentation, such as agile and scrum methodologies, CI/CD, and using Azure DevOps/Git for versioning
Curiosity about technical processes and tools
Demonstrated understanding of broader technology industry practices
and standards
Detail-oriented and self-motivated, able to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with developing in-app guidance using tools such as Pendo or WalkMe
Content conversion experience, particularly from older documentation systems to MadCap Flare
Working knowledge of Web formats and technologies such as CSS, XSLT, and JavaScript
Experience documenting APIs using associated tools like Postman and Swagger
Aptitude for conceptualizing graphics on complex concepts
Familiarity with video-editing and production tools such as Adobe Captivate and Camtasia
Exposure to SAP, Oracle E-Business Suite, similar product suites, or database technologies
Experience working in a multi-disciplined team with geographically distributed co-workers
Experience creating multilingual documentation
