Job Description : Atlassian can hire people in any country where we have a legal entity, assuming candidates have eligible working rights and a sufficient timezone overlap with their team. As our offices re-open, Atlassians can choose to work remotely or return to an office, unless it’s necessary for the role to be performed in the office. Interviews and onboarding are conducted virtually, a part of being a distributed-first company.
As we expand our Atlassian footprint in India in mid-2022, we are able to recruit eligible candidates for this role who are located in Karnataka, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Delhi NCR and Maharashtra. If this sparks your interest, apply today and chat with our friendly Recruitment team.
Atlassian is searching for a Backend Software Engineer to join its Marketplace Engineering group in BLR.
The Atlassian Marketplace has been wildly successful: we surpassed $2 billion in lifetime revenue on the Atlassian Marketplace, and Over 70% of Jira Software and Confluence customers use at least one Marketplace app.
Where you’ll make an impact
With Marketplace’s alignment with the Economy vision, we are now moving towards the mission to enable Every team to extend Atlassian products to unleash more potential.
We are at a very exciting place right now where we are exploring various possibilities of expanding our horizons to think beyond just Marketplace apps to be hosted on our platform.
In this role, you will collaborate closely not only with your immediate team but also with engineers across a wide range of Atlassian product, platform, data and infrastructure teams, as well as with product managers, designers and our customers and partners.
On your first day, we’ll expect you to have:
6+ years of experience designing and building a production-level large-scale web application.
You are comfortable conducting code reviews and giving feedback to ensure high standards of code maintainability and extensibility
Address complex problems at both an application and system level
Experience building service from the ground up is preferred – be product-focused, driving the design, development, and implementation in order to turn a user’s pain points into simple and elegant solutions that are loved.
Experience in designing and architecting high-availability, fault-tolerant, scalable, distributed systems.
Expertise in stakeholder management and leading the team through complex projects.
Expertise with software development in languages like Kotlin, Java or Scala, and an understanding of how to write performant, decoupled, testable, maintainable code.
Willingness to take ownership of the software you write all the way to production, and experience operating software in production. This includes building monitoring into your code, tweaking dashboards, defining alerts, writing runbooks, etc…
Experience with agile software development methodologies and software development practices (unit testing, pair programming, and continuous integration).
Ability to communicate and collaborate on ideas and designs with your team and beyond, in a remote working environment.
A “non-hero approach”: rather than celebrating heroic efforts pulled off to resolve an incident, prefer engaging in engineering practices that avoid the incidents in the first place!
The following are not required, but definite bonuses:
Experience with public cloud offerings (AWS, or equivalents in another cloud provider, e.g. GCP or Azure)
Experience with FaaS (e.g. AWS Lambda or Google Cloud Functions)
Good understanding of typical web application patterns and challenges of both microservices and serverless architectures.
Experience with incident management processes and participating in 24/7 on-call rosters.
