Description
Position Summary The Database Administrator is responsible for the daily operation of our database deployments around the world. You will install, configure, maintain, and monitor several different types of database systems such as Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, and PostgreSQL. You will also be responsible for performance tuning through collaboration with global development groups and third-party support organizations, data migration and lifecycle management, and disaster recovery and high available implementations to meet Lineages’ internal availability targets. Lineage has a cloud first model so much of this work will be done using AWS RDS and EC2 database technologies. As a successful Database Administrator, you will ensure our systems are secure, efficient, scalable, available, durable, and maintainable. Primary Responsibilities • Responsible for the implementation and maintenance of Lineage Logistics global database infrastructure. • Responsible for monitoring and alerting for performance and service availability. • Responsible for performance tuning activities. • Responsible for data movement including backups, refreshes, and migrations, point-in-time restores, read replicas, Amazon S3 Bucket and Amazon Database Migration Services. • Responsible for Change Tracking and CDC configurations used for Data Lake population. • Collaborates with others to solve complex problems and resolve technological disagreement with informed, rational, practical solutions. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities • Experience with SQL Always On Clusters and other Database High Availability Technologies • Experience with systems monitoring tools like Query Store, Extended Events, CloudWatch and those like Solarwinds Orion • Ability to execute multi-system deployments simultaneously through scripting and SQL Registered Servers • Deep understanding of performance-based configurations tuned for ad-hoc query use, parallelism, and SQL memory allocation • Extensive focus on performance tuning with the ability to identify and resolve lock waits, blocking locks, lock chains, missing indexes, and top N queries • Familiarity with SQL Agent jobs, operators, and alerts for database maintenance and monitoring • Familiarity with networking and storage concepts and how they related to database platforms. • Strong scripting skills and experience with Infrastructure as Code: Python, PowerShell, T-SQL, AWS CLI.
