What Will You Do?
As a Financial Auditor II (Auditor Evaluator II), you will work on one of the largest financial audits in the world. Financial Auditors ensure California’s multi-billion dollar financial statements are fairly stated by analyzing financial data, assessing controls over financial reporting, and evaluating risks. This work is necessary for California to receive billions in federal funds each year that impact schools and other public services.
Additionally, Financial Auditors communicate extensively with government officials and colleagues, understand laws and best practices, collect and analyze evidence, trend and visualize data, thoroughly and accurately document their analyses, and work with teams to develop final public reports.
Working Conditions
The office has a telework program that is intended to provide maximum telework opportunities to those employees who prefer remote work.
Work is performed in an office environment within a high-rise building.
Work requires sitting for an extended period of time using a personal computer and the use of standard office equipment, such as phones, copiers or scanners.
Work may require periodic non-standard work hours and work during weekends to meet workload needs and demands.

If you are not a state employee, or your state classification is not eligible to transfer, you must meet the eligibility requirements and take the promotional exam to be considered for the position. You may take the promotional exam if you satisfy one these eligibility requirements:
Permanent civil service appointment with our office
Current or former employee with the Legislature
Former non-elected exempt employee with the Executive Branch
Retired or honorably discharged from the United States military

Statement of Qualifications –

You either are interested in obtaining or possess a valid certificate (an attest license) as a Certified Public Accountant in California.
You have experience working on audits of annual financial reports for government, commercial or public entities in accordance with the “Government Auditing Standards”, also known as ‘Yellow Book Standards’, published by the Comptroller General of the United States, or other professional auditing standards.
You have experience using general accounting and auditing principles and procedures, and working with financial data.
You are a self-starter with a sense of purpose and are able to work in an independent nonpartisan office by approaching questions objectively without bias.
You are able to think critically and synthesize data and information into logical, meaningful, and concise conclusions that will inform sound recommendations.

You are willing to occasionally work long or irregular hours to get the job done.
You have a Bachelor’s Degree or higher, preferably in a field related to Accounting or Business Administration.
