Job Description
Business Summary: Cloud Management – vRealize Operations
Together our $2 billion VMware Cloud Management Business is leading transition to software defined data centers (SDDC) across public and private clouds. Cloud Management is at the heart of the IT transformation led by cloud, SaaS, virtualization, devops and containers. These trends represent a huge opportunity for you to help define our strategic and GTM approach through astute product management. You will be working on the rapidly transforming Infra and App Operations space, defining the management and operations of SDDC and Apps and the way enterprises run and manage their cloud infrastructure.
For vRealize Operations, you will work with the team to define the go-to-market strategy, product requirements, work very closely with engineering, user experience and product marketing on product development, roadmap and launches while continuously validating the use cases with customers to execute on the requirements. You will partner closely with VMware’s customers, partners, our sales force, product marketing, and other cross-functional organizations.
Job Role and Responsibilities:
Define and execute on strategy for core product capabilities for vRealize Operations Manager Product and vRealize Operations Cloud service.
Requirements definition: Distilling customer and detailed strategy & high level requirements into clear, concise and actionable requirements and user stories. Develop end to end use cases, understand customer needs and requirements and represent them in concise requirements
Understand and communicate product requirements to engineering team to fulfill product strategy; drive feature prioritization and work closely with engineering to deliver successful products.
You will actively engage during development process: Work closely with engineers to guide development activities based on priorities, provide feedback on critical design choices based on user impact, and ensure timely and high quality deliverables
You will work closely with broader R&D teams and collaborate. Act as customer advocate, provide voice of the customer during internal discussions
You will work with Product Marketing in collateral generation for sales & customer enablement, serving as technical Subject Matter Authority.
Required Skills:
BS/MS in Computer Science, MBA preferable
3+ years of experience in a Product Management role, or meaningful experience in a Technical Management or Sales Engineering role; Overall experience of 5+ years in technology industry.
Experience in developing software products for enterprises.
You will be a tenacious, ambitious, self-starter with a real passion for the cloud operations market, who can also serve as a strong advocate for our customers
Hands on and “in the weeds” type, with an understanding of how things work and constantly suggest improvements
Proven track record of executing on plan for new products into successful businesses, especially for enterprise products; SaaS experience is a plus
Strong technical background in infrastructure operations management, native public cloud, datacenter, networking, enterprise platforms, applications software space and containers, especially understanding of virtualization, operations and management
Ability to communicate and translate technical issues for business users as well engage & lead discussions with engineering architects.
Aptitude to quickly come up to speed on groundbreaking technology concepts and architecture
Works well with peers and team members in the assigned areas of responsibility.
Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Preferred Skills:
Strong analytical skills and a natural predisposition toward data-driven decision-making. You should nevertheless be able to make reasoned decisions in the face of uncertainty or imperfect data
Experience with commercial and enterprise customers, responding to the field and partners
Experience with software development methodology like Agile and associated productivity tools, such as JIRA
Ability to travel 20% of the time in order to meet with customers and partners
