Job Description : Agent—Audit Division
The Nevada Gaming Control Board is seeking diverse, qualified applicants for multiple Agent position(s) in our Reno and Las Vegas Offices. This is an open, competitive recruitment for an unclassified, full-time position within the State of Nevada system, and may be used to fill current and/or future vacancies for audit agent as they occur in the geographical areas for up to one (1) year.
The Nevada Gaming Commission and the Nevada Gaming Control Board govern Nevada’s gaming industry through strict regulation of all persons, locations, practices, associations and related activities. We protect the integrity and stability of the industry through our investigative and licensing practices, and we enforce laws and regulations, while holding gaming licensees to high standards. Through these practices, we are able to ensure the proper collection of taxes and fees that are an essential source of revenue for Nevada.
Recruitment: This is an open, competitive recruitment, open to all qualified applicants.
The Position: Under immediate and general supervision of a senior agent or other designee, the audit agent conducts field audits, functioning as a staff auditor; analyzes internal accounting control systems, and performs other financial analyses; may function as an agent-in-charge of a field audit; and performs related work as required.
Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration, and completion of the following courses (or their equivalent):
· Intermediate Accounting I and II
· Introduction to Principles of Accounting I and II
· Advanced Accounting or Intermediate Accounting III
· Auditing
· Tax Accounting
· Cost/Managerial Accounting
· Business Law (1 semester) or Commercial Transactions Law for Accountants
Preference is given to persons who possess a master’s degree in accounting or who have graduated from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration and have completed the 150 hour requirement to qualify for the CPA license as specified by the Nevada State Board of Accountancy.
Salary Range: Up to $78,264 (Employee-Employer Paid)
Up to $68,278 (Employer Paid)
Benefits: State benefits includes paid medical, dental, vision care, life and disability insurance programs; eleven paid holidays per year; three weeks of annual leave; three weeks of sick leave; state-defined benefit retirement plan; and availability of a tax-sheltered deferred compensation plan. State employees do not contribute to social security; however, a small Medicare deduction is required. Long-term employees enjoy additional benefits.
