Job Description : The Director/Corporate Human Resources is responsible for the design, development and execution of a comprehensive talent strategy for the organization that aligns talent and employment practices with the achievement of results that advance Southwest Gas Corporation’s business strategies and goals. Structures the talent strategy to enable the Company to attract, engage and retain high performing, high potential talent that sustains business operations and supports future growth.
This role is accountable for directing all aspects of enterprise Human Resources (HR) functions, including HR Business Partnership, Talent Development, Talent Acquisition, HR Shared Services, and Organizational Change Management.
This position includes the opportunity for a 30% Short Term Incentive Plan target and a 10% Long Term Incentive Plan target, at the discretion of the company.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
There are broad precedents and practices which the incumbent uses to determine how this job is performed. This position requires twelve or more years of relevant work experience and a bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential job responsibilities. Minimum of five years supervisory management experience is also required.
Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) or related field preferred.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Serves as a trusted “thought leader” in defining, aligning and delivering a long-term vision and strategy for enterprise talent programs, recommending and overseeing the implementation of future-focused HR processes, policies and practices that deliver on strategic business objectives
Collaborates as part of the HR leadership team to create a cohesive leadership approach, advancing the HR operating model and acting as a consultant in areas of expertise
Partners with HR peer directors to develop and deliver a desired employee experience vision that attracts, engages and retains high performing talent
Inspires trust, serves as a strategic advisor, and builds strong relationships with senior stakeholders; develops and presents recommendations for talent programs and workforce-related initiatives
Sets clear business and performance goals and metrics for reporting HR teams; drives a high performance team culture with strong accountability for results
Provides leadership and direction to reporting HR teams (and cross-functional partners) to ensure executional excellence and strong compliance with all applicable legislation, regulations, and Company policies and procedures
Establishes clear expectations for risk mitigation and issue escalation related to all employment practices; receives escalations, coaches direct reports, makes decisions, strategizes/takes action to reach resolution, and escalates further as necessary
Requests and reviews recommendations from reporting HR teams; approves and/or presents recommendations to senior management that support and advance strategy
Oversees the implementation of HR programs, structures, processes and technology; accountable for successful completion of approved initiatives, on time and within budget
Gains approval and directs enterprise communications for HR-initiated projects and annual processes
Monitors external trends and best practices in Human Resource/Talent Management to promote an outside-in view of the talent landscape; builds data-driven business cases and ROI assessments to introduce and execute scalable programs and solutions that achieve business objectives
Adopts a growth mindset with a focus on continuous improvement; looks for opportunities to create efficiencies and add value based on the Company’s unique workforce needs
Regularly reviews and evaluates the return on investment (ROI), return on expectations (ROE), and effectiveness of HR programs in area of responsibility; makes modifications to maintain value and relevancy
Stays abreast of changes in laws, regulations, policies, and programs relevant to employee relations and employment practices, ensuring adherence to legal requirements and Company policies
Creates and/or amends Human Resources policies and processes as business or legislative changes require
Successfully manages a broad portfolio of vendor partners to deliver HR value to the business
Oversees forecasts, budgets, resources and initiative performance in areas of responsibility
Responds to ad hoc requests from senior leadership
Invests time in coaching, mentoring, supporting and developing team members to achieve desired performance and career outcomes
Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned
Regular and predictable attendance is a condition of employment and is an essential function of the job

SALARY DETAILS
$137,895 – $172,369
