HR Business Partner Overview
This opportunity would ideally be located in the Northwest region (OR, WA, ID, UT).
The HR Business Partner (HRBP) position is responsible for collaborating with managers to prioritize strategic people initiatives and solutions that accelerate the achievement of business plans through performance management, talent development, diversity and inclusion, and employee engagement.
This role provides employee relations support ensuring expert consultation services and solutions are provided to managers, and employees, on routine and complex issues related to performance management, attendance, conflict management, workplace guidelines and issues.
This position formulates partnerships across the HR function to deliver value-added service to management and employees that reflects the business objectives of the organization.
This is a remote position.
Essential Duties
Conducts monthly meetings with respective business areas to learn and understand the needs, goals, and business objectives to ensure effective HR alignment and support.
Resolves employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough, and objective investigations.
Provides counsel and facilitates prompt and effective resolution of workplace conflict to address issues for employees, managers, and leaders in a manner consistent with company policies, practices, and legal considerations. Utilizes various conflict management techniques, including training, mediation, conflict coaching, etc.
Conducts investigations into internal claims of discrimination, sexual harassment and or any perceived unfair treatment in the workplace.
Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with the legal department as needed/required.
Supports respective business areas through Performance Management process, ensuring all managers and employees are informed, trained, and coached on all aspects of goal planning, quarterly check-ins, goal scoring and day-to-day performance management guidance. Works with managers on creating performance improvement plans to close performance gaps.
Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation and assists departments with the establishment and maintenance of departmental HR policies.
Provides guidance to managers on all HR processes including reorganizations, workforce and salary planning, talent review, and succession planning.
Identifies training needs for business areas and individual coaching needs for managers. Facilitates HR training for employees and managers as needed.
Actively supports employee engagement by working with managers to address engagement issues.
Analyzes HR trends and metrics in partnership with the HR Operations team (Benefits, Compensation, HR Systems, and Organizational Development) to develop solutions, programs and policies.
Processes unemployment claims and sees the process through to completion.
Performs special projects and other related duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong knowledge of HR practices, employment law and employee relations procedures and processes.
Demonstrated experience with conflict resolution and developing high degree of trust and credibility with both management and staff
Ability to foster collaborative relationships with managers, colleagues, and employees at all levels.
Experience with best practices approach to conducting investigations with skills in listening, fact-finding, and exploratory skills. Ability to uncover additional information.
Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.
Demonstrated ability to coach and consult at various levels in the organization.
Solid dispute resolution, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
High level of integrity and professionalism with ability to manage confidentiality of employee information.
Highly organized with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and assignments with deadlines.
Analytical skills to collect and verify detailed information, understand the trends/best practices, consider the options and risks, then make a recommendation.
Excellent planning, time management, communication, decision-making, presentation, organization, and interpersonal skills.
Advanced Microsoft Office skills including excellent Excel experience
Ability to quickly learn to use HR systems proficiently.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree, ideally in Human Resources, Business Administration, or other related field, or equivalent professional experience.
5+ years of experience resolving complex employee relations issues.
Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, performance management, and federal and state respective employment laws.
Or, equivalent military experience.
Preferred Education and Experience
SHRM-CP or PHR credential or planned to obtain within one year of hire.
