Position : Maintenance I
Job Description : The Reno Housing Authority is looking for individuals to join our maintenance department that are passionate about the quality of their work, and a desire to be part of a team that makes a difference in our community every day! Our maintenance team is responsible for the rehabilitation, repair, and preventive maintenance of the Housing Authority’s units and properties to ensure they are in safe, clean, and proper working order. As a Maintenance I you would assist with unit turns, complete minor plumbing, electrical, painting, and carpentry tasks, and appliance installation and repairs. The Maintenance I is provided the training, guidance and experience to advance to the journey level Maintenance II position. The hourly salary range for the Maintenance I starts at $18.35 with the ability to receive merit increases to $27.11. The Maintenance II salary range starts at $23.42 with the ability to receive merit increases to $34.60.
Examples of some of the essential duties for the Maintenance I position are:
Perform general maintenance duties such as; complete unit turns; minor plumbing, electrical, painting, and carpentry; appliance installation and repairs, trash outs and any other needed maintenance duties both for interior and exterior of all units and properties.
Perform and troubleshoot electrical repairs on items such as appliances, fixtures, switches and outlets, etc.
Perform and troubleshoot plumbing tasks such as clearing drains, replacing fittings, faucets and sinks, etc.
Patch and repair walls; replace and repair door hardware and screens; paint interior and exterior walls.
Perform maintenance service requests (work orders) and vacancy turns while accurately completing related paperwork in a timely manner.
Performs general landscape maintenance tasks such as mowing, trimming, weeding, pruning, and sprinkler repairs.
Remove trash and debris from vacated units and surrounding areas.
Available for on-call rotation and responds to afterhours emergencies.

Qualifications
The minimum qualifications are a High School diploma or equivalent.
Six (6) months experience performing routine maintenance and repair work, preferably in a residential housing environment.
Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to successfully perform the work.
