Job Description
The Associated Students of the University of Nevada is made up of every undergraduate student at the University of Nevada. ASUN provides a means for students to voice concerns and address issues at the university, local, state, national, and international levels.
The primary mission of the department is to:
Pursue initiatives that improve the eco-friendliness and overall sustainability of the university and the Reno community
Ensure that the student body is well educated and aware of issues pertaining to sustainability on the local and national level
Host events that are both engaging and informational for students to learn about sustainability and how to adopt a sustainable lifestyle
Execute the Sustainable Nevada Initiative Fund
Other matters properly relating there to
Responsibilities
Act as the Director of Sustainability in the Director’s absence or at the Director’s request
Work with the department of programming to host year-round events with themes of sustainability, work year-round with any officers hosting events to help make the events as sustainable as possible, program and promote events for nationally recognized holidays relevant to environmental preservation, such as Public Lands Day, Earth Day, and Arbor Day.
Perform any tasks pertaining to department marketing and promotion, work on community projects involving the university and off-campus partners including but not limited to: UPASS, campus composting, etc., and act as a standing member of the Sustainable Nevada Initiative Fund committee.
Required Qualifications
During my tenure of this appointed position, I agree to adhere to the following guidelines:
Maintain a 2.00 GPA and be enrolled in at least 7 credits, perform all duties and instructions outlined by the ASUN Governing Documents Uphold the Nevada Student Code of Conduct, meet all deadlines set forth, attend all required meetings and trainings, work scheduled hours, properly complete and submit HR paperwork on time, assist in the promotion of the mission of ASUN and Nevada, behave in a manner that is ethical, maintaining a high level of integrity, and other duties as called upon by my position.
I understand not adhering to the items outlined in this agreement or what is stated in the ASUN Governing Documents, my position may be subject to disciplinary action by the ASUN Judicial Council and/or the University of Nevada.
Compensation Grade
Student Employee, Level 1
Pay: $3,000 distributed evenly over a 12-month period in a single term
