Position : Superintendent
Job Description : Oversees the safe and successful operation of the extrusion department. Responsible for production and personnel of the extrusion group to which assigned according to established VEKA standards.
This is a 7:00pm- 7:00am, graveyard position.
Salary 70-90k DOE
Duties and Responsibilities:
Manages production operation and inventory levels of assigned profiles to meet scheduled demand and efficient inventory turns.
Responsible for product quality and safe operation of production area including the safe handling of tooling to ensure extrusion of a quality product including periodic line checks
Monitors power consumption as well as line speed and leads improvement initiatives that result in higher overall equipment efficiencies (OEE) and optimization of capacity.
Determines proper staffing levels daily.
Responsibility for other machine groups including equipment and personnel in the absence of the assigned managers to support groups for direction.
Accurately and timely Data Entry of required reports to include – production reports, regrind reports, scrap and any other information requested by management.
Responsible to maintain and drive VEKA policies and standards to include – safety standards, housekeeping standards, and material packaging standards and scrap segregation requirements.
Works collaboratively with other departments across the VEKA organization to include:
Tooling Repair and Fine Tuning for repair or adjustments needed to correct profile deficiencies or instability.
Maintenance Department to ensure proper upkeep of equipment and report of breakdowns and equipment problems.
Warehouse Department and Plant Management to ensure raw material is available for extrusion.
CCC and QA to resolve and quality or delivery issues.
Builds a high performing team through hiring, training, evaluation, and development.
Determines individual employee needs and recommends opportunity for career development and training.
Reviews all audits and training to ensure that noted deficiencies identified are corrected and/or retrained.
Receives and directs in-coming phone calls during non-business hours.
All other duties as assigned.

Education:
Bachelor of Science Degree or 2 years as Lead Technician or equivalent manufacturing or management experience.
Extrusion experience required

Reports to Production Manager
