Special Information:
The park is located in Lolo, MT. This position is full time seasonal position and is located at Travelers’ Rest State Park. Travelers’ Rest has been an important resting site for thousands of years for many people including the Bitterroot Salish people. The site also preserves the only archeologically verified campsite of the Lewis and Clark Expedition. The park has designated trails, visitor center, restrooms, picnic tables and picnic shelter. The park receives approximately 40,000 visitors a year, including those coming to explore the wildlife and plant life along the trails, and to experience what it may have been like for the Lewis and Clark Expedition over 200 years ago. Over 2,000 students the local area visit on curriculum-based field trips in the spring and fall. The visitor center has exhibits, a conference room, and a small bookstore. The park offers great bird and wildlife viewing, wading and fishing in Lolo Creek, scenic views, nature trails, interpretive waysides about archaeology and the Lewis and Clark Expedition, and a glimpse of the spot where the Expedition camped in 1806.
The position may require some travel and participation in meetings. The incumbent will be required to work weekends and holidays.

Identity of applicants who become finalists may be released to the public if the Department deems it necessary. Job Duties:
The Travelers’ Rest Administrative Clerk assists with operating the visitor center at Travelers’ Rest State Park, which includes opening and closing the building and cash register, collecting fees, ringing up bookstore sales, communicating with the public, and giving information and orientation to park visitors. This work will primarily encompass administrative, operational, public relations, and cleaning activities. This position provides essential services and tasks as they arise, such as, cleaning, communicating rules and regulations, operating a computer and POS system, and other responsibilities assigned. The Administrative Clerk position will work under the immediate supervision of the Park Manager. In the absence of managers, the incumbent may be assigned acting responsibilities.
Physical and Environmental Demands:
Some physical labor is required. Must be able to move 30 lbs. The majority of work is sedentary and is performed in an office environment. The position may require some travel and participation in meetings. The incumbent will be required to work weekends and holidays.

Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
This position requires an effective working knowledge of basic administrative skills including, but not limited to, word processing, business communications, electronic and manual filing, and spreadsheet and database program utilization. maintenance functions. Must be proficient in the use of grammar, spelling and punctuation and sentence structure. Must have excellent organizational skills and be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing. ,The ability operate an electronic cash register following training is expected. First-aid / CPR / AED, certifications may require participation in training after hire.
Ability to develop, use and maintain directories, personnel lists, and other park or tourism related guides and reference materials. Must have knowledge of bookkeeping and record keeping.
Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions.
Must develop a general working knowledge, including site location and available recreational opportunities for public recreational sites in the region’s jurisdiction. These include wildlife management areas, fishing access sites, state parks, forested lands, and major waterways.
Must be able to establish positive working relationships with co-workers and the public. Must be able to effectively deal with angry individuals who are dissatisfied with Montana State Park policies and actions. Ability to understand and effectively explain Park, Parks Division and Department policies and regulations to the general public. Ability to use tact, courtesy, poise, alertness and good judgment in public contacts.
Minimum Qualifications (Education and Experience):
The knowledge, skills, and abilities of this position are normally attained through combination of education and experience equivalent to high school diploma or equivalency and at least 1 year of job-related experience. Other combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis. 1 year job-related college or vocational training in business or public administration, office management, park or natural resources management, accounting, tourism, marketing, communications, or other related degrees is preferred.
