Position : Aquatic Supervisor
Job Description : Nature of Work
Technical and supervisory responsibility for providing overall administration of the City’s aquatic facilities and programs. Work is performed under the general direction of the Recreation Manager.
Essential Functions of Work
Hires, trains, schedules, organizes, supervises, coordinates and implements the staffing and daily operations of several pool locations to ensure continuity of operations.
Provides support, instruction, supervision and guidance to temporary employees to ensure all shift schedules are properly staffed.
Directs or performs equipment scheduling, daily financial transactions, chemical testing, purchasing and facility cleaning to properly maintain all aquatic facilities.
Promotes and publicizes the City’s aquatic facilities by working with local organizations and the media to advertise new programs and special events.
Develops and implements new programs and services to expand the level of service offered to the public.
Education and Experience
Education, training or experience equivalent to an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Recreation Management or a related field is preferred.
Two years of experience in aquatic programs, including supervisory experience.
A high school diploma or equivalent.
Requirements of Work
Substantial knowledge of the principles and practices of aquatic program administration.
Thorough knowledge of the use and application of water rescue methods, lifesaving and first aid practices and techniques.
Ability to supervise, assign, train, and direct the work of other employees.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, vendors and the general public.
