Job Description : CONTRIBUTING TO THE CMPA
The Business Capability Enablement’s (BCE) goal is to empower CMPA’s employees and drive product and service delivery through innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement. It plays an essential role in working collaboratively across the organization to leverage business applications and the supporting processes to continuously deliver value, contribute to modernizing the CMPA, and to deliver enhanced member experience. The BCE is the central part of the overall support model that includes end-users, subject matter experts (SMEs), and business capability owners (BCO) with oversight from a corporate governance process. The BCE’s cross-functional teams follow flexible and agile ways of working to deliver business value through effective user support, by continuously improving business processes and systems, by proactively leveraging emerging and future capabilities while maintaining secure and reliable systems, limiting technical debt, and by providing a consistent experience for both employees and members.
POSITION OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Lead, Business Solutions, the Business Analyst is responsible for supporting the CMPA’s business system applications, including problem analysis and resolution, software upgrades, enhancements and new software implementations, and custom application design, development, testing, and support. These applications consist of purchased software, internally developed custom software, and interfaces between business systems. The Business Analyst works as a liaison between the business and technical development teams to ensure business requirements are understood and translated into system and process functionality. They are responsible for engaging with BCOs and business users to ensure processes are defined and documented.
POSITION ACTIVITIES
Completes requirements analysis for change requests, including requirements elicitation and leading and/or participating in workshops
Investigates, models, defines, and documents required business processes
Works with stakeholders across the business to ensure that user stories are clearly defined, delivered, and approved for deployment
Works within a delivery team to develop realistic solutions to business problems while adhering to agile best practices
Helps prioritize work to align with stakeholder priorities, ensuring services and solutions provided meet stakeholders’ current and future business needs
Supports end-user productivity through end user self-sufficiency and coordinates with subject matter experts to provide user support services
Investigates and troubleshoots complex issues including working with contract and vendor support
Prepares communications and delivers presentations to educate stakeholders on enhancement opportunities and process improvements through new functionality introduced by the team and delivered during system updates
Cultivates and coordinates relationships with stakeholders; frequently interacts with leaders and cross-functional partners of varying technical aptitudes to set strategic guidance and effectively influence decision-making
Assists with quality assurance and integration testing
Participates in sprint ceremonies (planning, grooming, demo)
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum 4 year Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in Business, Information Management, Computer Science, or a related field of study
Minimum 4 years of experience in business analysis
Experience leading and coordinating projects, including understanding the project management lifecycle
Experience providing user support and advice, analyzing data, working in cross-functional departments, facilitating meetings, and delivering presentations
Sound knowledge and experience with CRM applications
Sound knowledge and experience with other technologies and methodologies (web, Software as a Service, Agile, etc.)
Experience with building test scenarios based on defined requirements and coordinating testing exercises conducted by subject matter experts
Experience in supporting the development of strategies, programs and solutions, and facilitating their implementation
Sound knowledge and experience with business process methodology/modeling
Business Analyst certification and/or PMP certification an asset

Ability to create training materials, presentations, requirements documentation, and user stories
Ability to deliver presentations to technical staff, end users, and management
Troubleshooting and problem analysis skills
Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks within a collaborative environment
Ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships
POSTING DETAILS
Job Details: Regular full-time
Salary Range: $70,305 to $98,427 annually – role classified as level 08
Location: Working fully remote until further notice. Post-pandemic this job will be Hybrid – Primary Remote working the majority of time on average 3-4 days per week from a home-based office with regular onsite presence at the CMPA office located in Ottawa, Ontario.
