Job Profile
Reporting to the Supervisor, Corporate Communications and working closely with Communications Advisors, the Communications Associate provides tactical communications support to the organization including the delivery of communications plans and campaigns for city services and programs through a variety of methods and vehicles.
The position provides review and approvals for internal and external websites, management and monitoring of the city’s social media channels, advertising and media relations as directed by the Supervisor. This position is the administrator to the corporation’s website(s), which includes managing and approving content submissions from Web Editors, maintaining web design and answering consultation questions. Liaison with external website platform provider, graphic designers, and Web Editors for website projects.
What you will be doing
Support the execution of integrated marketing and communication strategies and tactics as developed by the Supervisor and Communication Advisor designed to assist the organization in building positive relations with internal and external stakeholders.Co-ordinate projects, programs or events that require collaboration of a variety of internal resources and cross-functional teams.Provide advice and counsel to clients on matters of communication, advertising, public affairs and media relations that effectively promote the city’s programs and services.Maintain corporate identity standards as per the City’s Branding Guidelines.Research and draft internal communications, presentations and media releases/PSAs/advisories upon request.Assists with daily monitoring and updates to website content and generates detailed analytics for performance reporting. Must have knowledge of search engine analytics to maximize traffic to websites.Assists with support for departmental website content editors with technical training and day-to-day content management.Publish content, maintaining continuity of themes, designing layout, streamlining navigation and increasing online presence to potential customers. Must be familiar eSolutions icreate software platform to publish and design client websites.Assist with electronic newsletter distribution systems for internal and external communications
Education
Three-year college diploma from a technical college or university program with a focus on web-based technology, journalism, communications, public relations and marketing
Experience and Knowledge
Must have strong communication and time management skills and current awareness of marketing techniques and trends.
Knowledge of Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 and Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL)
Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite – Photoshop, Premiere for photo editing, digital design and video editing.

Your compensation
Annual salary range of $59,076 to $72,044 (Non-Union Salary Grid, Level 2)

Enrolment in Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System (OMERS).
Location of position
This position is located at Cambridge City Hall, 50 Dickson Street, Cambridge Ontario.
Hours of work
Standard hours of work are Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with some evenings and weekends as required.
