Position : IT Specialist
Job Description : Position SummaryThe IT Specialist manages the company’s procedures and initiatives of all IT aspects as they relate to the Company’s business operations. This person will evaluate and enhance current IT systems as well as propose and implement best practices for future growth. The IT Specialist manages the relationship with the third-party IT helpdesk vendor in addition to IT equipment evaluation, purchase, configuration, set-up, and training of technology. This role also oversees the mobile device management (MDM) platform, device inventory, set up, deployment and changes to apps, access, and updates to information necessary to support Metco’s workforce productivity. The IT Specialist ensures that department and project milestones are met and adhere to approved budgets.
Duties and responsibilities
Order and provide IT related office equipment for all job types and locations including, but not limited to, laptop computers, mobile devices, desktop computers, desk phones, keyboards, power cords and cables
Maintain inventory and records for all technology: mobile devices, phones, tablets, laptop and desktop computers, and printer network
Review and approve all billing and vendor invoicing related to IT equipment and mobile device management
Perform company-wide capital expenditure planning
Gather departmental needs, pricing & purchasing information for phones, equipment, and vehicle GPS systems
Manage the purchase, assignment, and upgrades of technology for current employees and new hires including computers, phones, and peripherals in coordination with third party vendors
Answer field calls and emails on technology issues and prioritize replacement equipment when necessary
Work with third party to complete new hire onboarding checklist for every new hire prior to their start date
Provide onsite technical troubleshooting support for computers, monitors, devices, office moves, and peripherals
Manage printer/copier vendor contracts for all hardware and networking in all sites. This includes maintenance contracts, buy out agreements, replacements
Manage Comcast relationship for all locations: physical desk phone (web-based portal management), internet (wireless and wired devices), and TV; troubleshoot fixes, upgrades, modems management, and location moves
Manage physical desk phones for assignment, set-up, transfers, voicemail, and phone directory list
Work with third party to complete IT offboarding for every terminated employee. This includes cutting access, forwarding email to manager, data backups, retrieval of IT equipment/company property, reconfiguration, and redeployment
Reallocate and upgrade equipment at its end of life
Research technology upgrades and budget future state of IT equipment to optimize employee productivity
Manage wireless contract relationship for mobile devices including approving invoices for payment
Maintain and support mobile device management (MDM) vendor relationship
Improve existing programs by evaluating objectives and specifications, reviewing proposed changes, and making recommendations
Prepare reference materials for users by drafting operational instructions
Perform other related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
A minimum two-year degree in the field of information technology or equivalent education
2+ years’ experience in IT field
Proven experience as IT Technician or relevant position
Exceptional diagnostic and problem-solving skills
Written and verbal communication skills are required
Strong ability to multi-task and manage time effectively
Lead projects from start to finish
Strong customer service skills
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds regularly, lift and move 25 pounds frequently, and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds
Preferred Qualifications
5+ years experience
Bilingual communication in English and Spanish
Work EnvironmentThe duties of this position are performed in normal office environmental conditions. This position is based out of office headquarters, but day trips to other branch offices may be required periodically. Occasionally, heavy lifting (up to fifty pounds) and moving of office equipment may be necessary. Long periods of sitting and computer work are components of this position. Noise levels in the work environment are moderate.WE OFFER YOU:
Salary Range of $ $52.K-$75K DOE
