Position : MACH1 – Librarian II
Job Description : Librarians II perform professional library work and are responsible for providing innovative and creative approaches to goal setting, planning, customer service, age level programming, information services, readers advisory and system wide committee work. The current opportunity exists in the MACH1 makerspace located in the Youth Services department. The MACH1 Librarian is responsible for overseeing the MACH1 Makerspace located at the Burton Barr Central Library to oversee programming, outreach and carrying out the overall vision for MACH1, and supervise a team of five to staff service desks in Children’s Place and Teen Central. This position may assist in projects and programs across all three sections in Youth Services as assigned by the Youth Services Manger.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate will have experience in developing technology programming for youth and building community partnerships.
Proficient skills in 3D modeling and printing, coding and robotics.
The Burton Barr Library is open seven days a week. Will require availability for at least one evening a week and weekend shifts.
SALARY
$49,046.40 – $74,838.40 annually. Candidates may be hired up to $74,838.40 depending upon qualifications.

Pension Information
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s degree in library science from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited institution
Two years of progressively responsible library experience
Including one year of professional library work
Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted

The City of Phoenix has paused plans to implement a federal mandate requiring all city employees be vaccinated against COVID-19. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:
Two years of experience creating and delivering programs and/or training to staff or customers in a library environment of which one year is in adult programming.
One year of supervisory experience including supervising, training, evaluating and providing effective leadership to professional, paraprofessional, technical and clerical level staff.
Ability to communicate in Spanish.
One year experience coordinating outreach with individuals and groups within the community to assess needs and develop cooperative services to meet those needs.
Experience developing and selecting ongoing library programs to build literacy skills.
Experience performing tasks in robotics or 3D imaging systems. (ie, WeDo, Vex, Lego Mindstorm).
