About The Role: Marketing Assistant Internship
Reporting to the Marketing Manager, the Marketing Assistant will create and plan to support our training, leadership, programs, teams through marketing campaigns, content design and asset creation. Specifically, this role will develop content to promote and inform our social media audiences during our in person Fellowship Training Camp. You’ll have a direct impact on Venture for Canada’s overall digital footprint, content strategy and brand tone and voice. You’ll do this by embracing our marketing experimental culture by evolving processes, frameworks and channels, creating marketing content and collateral, and working closely with a range of cross-functional teams.
This is role is part of VFC’s commitment to fostering work-integrated learning for Canadian students, in addition to gaining valuable hands-on experience, interns will also receive 1×1 mentoring from our Director of People Operations and Finance, receive a curated set of learning materials, and participate in professional development groups to further advance skill development. These skill development sessions will focus on relationship building, time management, objective based working styles, delegation, project planning and execution, working in small teams, and more! Due to the funding source of this role, potential candidates must be Canadian citizens between the ages of 15 and 30 at the start of their employment. Candidates must be based in Ontario.
This is a contract position and employment is contingent on funding approval. Expenses, travel, and boarding in Kingston, ON for Training Camp will be paid for by Venture for Canada.

Venture for Canada is committed to providing equal pay for equal work with salaries in line with industry standards. Our weekly salary pay for this position is $750. Other benefits include but are not limited to:

Stipend for phone usage.
Four daya vacation plus additional office closure for one week in August.
Flexible work hours and from May long weekend to Labour Day weekend we offer Summer Hours.
Funding to support the set up of a home office.

Your Entrepreneurial Skillset?

Ability to work onsite at Queens University in Kingston, Ontario in May-June 2022 (expenses will be covered).
A curious and creative mindset and a passion for visual, video and graphic content.
Confident written and verbal communication skills.
Comfortable independently creating high quality content across all social media platforms including Instagram, TikTok, Youtube and Twitter related to our training camp and training events in the summer.
A proven ability to meet common goals and objectives without procrastination.
Extremely collaborative mindset, the more opinions the merrier.
A resourceful way of operating. You can unblock solutions to complex processes and always think creatively about your approach to problems.
Enjoy busy and fast paced work.
Knowledge of Indigenous worldviews and entrepreneurship is an asset.
French is not required but an asset.

Role Responsibilities:

Be responsible for the ideation, community building, and execution of high-quality content across all social media accounts in relation to the Fellowship Program.
Create digital assets such as graphics, videos, copy and other collateral to grow our recruitment reach and social channels. Review and deploy final marketing content.
Assist with the development and coordination of marketing and communication efforts.
Work with various types of software and platforms for digital marketing.
Help identify marketing trends and key opportunities for innovation.
Conduct research for blogs, upcoming content, and our fall strategic plan.
Create graphics when needed and support collaboration with the Associate Creative Producer.
Attend Training Camp at Queen’s for 3 weeks for on the ground social media content and marketing support.
Support of marketing initiatives, event logistics and general administration.
Any other reasonable duties requested by VFC.
