Job Description : Nonprofit dealing with good distribution is searching for a Volunteer Coordinator. This can be a physical job. The right candidate will be a go-getter who is great at the computer, great multitasker, great with people, and confident to go out in the public to give talks about volunteer opportunities. A sales background would be useful.
Job Responsibilities:

Recruiting, coordinating and scheduling volunteers to cover up to 250 shifts per week. (An onsite volunteer database facilitates ease of scheduling.)
Stay current on trends dealing with nonprofit volunteering.
Conduct regular volunteer needs and assessments.
Utilize an interview and screening process for volunteers, including background checks where appropriate.
Assess volunteer placement and fit on a regular basis.
Create and update position descriptions for all volunteer positions with input from Program Coordinators and Program Director.
Evaluate the personal benefits a volunteer receives from helping, and utilize these internal and external motivators in recruitment, placement, and recognition each quarter as possible.
Plan, implement and update a recruitment strategy.
Organizational needs will be assessed and communicated by the Program Coordinators and Program Director, and it will be the responsibility of the Volunteer Coordinator to fill each shift as outlined by the Program Team.
Provide and plan for an orientation and tour for volunteers.
Maintain a current volunteer management database.
Maintain an updated record of all delivery drivers’ and truck and vehicle drivers’ auto insurance coverage and license numbers with records, notes and reminders in the volunteer management database.
Work with the various Program Coordinators in regards to scheduling of trainings for new volunteers and receive approval from the Program Coordinator before scheduling the volunteer into a regular shift.
Place volunteers in appropriate positions with respect to their interest, ability, and organizational needs.
Create a plan to facilitate volunteer pre-training and orientation prior to their ‘first day on the job’.
Create and confirm volunteer schedules for each program at least two weeks in advance and post these schedules in the appropriate program area.
Reconfirm each week’s schedule and regularly update them to accommodate for unforeseen emergencies and communicate that schedule to the Program Coordinators.
Create a process to track volunteer vacations and unavailability.
Develop an inexpensive recognition plan, three times a year, and work with Program Director to implement it.
Plan an annual volunteer recognition celebration event in the spring season.

Hours: Full time
Benefits:

Organization offers company health care insurance after a few months; and currently pays 75% of employee’s premium. Employee can add family. Medical, dental, vision plans available.
401K match up to 4% of salary after 6 months of employment.
Generous PTO – (3 weeks the first full year) start with some PTO days up front and accrue additional PTO each pay period.
