Position : Systems Administration Supervisor

Job Description : THE POSITION

The Systems Administration Supervisor plans, organizes and supervises the activities of the Systems Administration team in Washington County’s Information Technology Services Division. This position coordinates the implementation and support of the County’s enterprise server, storage and cloud infrastructure. Incumbents supervise and coordinate the effective use of staff and resources through planning, implementing, and evaluating the systems administration function and perform a wide variety of technical duties related to information systems administration. Finally, this position develops and implements procedures and is expected to exercise independent initiative and professional judgment to solve problems and accomplish desired goals and objectives.

The ideal candidate for this position would be a highly-skilled technology leader with experience leading a systems administration team and an acute capability in the management of Servers, storage, cloud and computing infrastructure. Broad knowledge of these enterprise technologies such as storage solutions, networking (layer 2/3), server virtualization, cloud infrastructure and managing change in a complex environment is required. In addition, extensive systems experience with Linux, Windows, and Oracle is highly preferred.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Nine (9) years of experience providing professional level information technology analysis and support. Two (2) of the years of experience must be supervising other information technology professionals. OR
An associate degree in computer science, business administration, or related field; AND seven (7) years of experience providing professional level information technology analysis and support. Two (2) of the years of experience must be supervising other information technology professionals. OR
A bachelor’s degree in computer science, business administration, or related field; AND five (5) years of experience providing professional level information technology analysis and support. Two (2) of the years of experience must be supervising other information technology professionals.
Additional Licenses, Certificates, Physical Abilities, and Specialty Requirements:
Must pass a comprehensive background investigation.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION

Selection Process:
Week of March 28, 2022: Human Resources will screen applications for the minimum qualifications as outlined above.
Week of April 4, 2022: A panel of subject matter experts will review and score submitted cover letters and responses to the supplemental questionnaire for applicants that meet minimum qualifications.
Eligible List: Candidates that successfully pass the subject matter expert review will be placed on a list of candidates eligible for interviews. Typically, the top-ranking 6 – 8 candidates are invited to participate in panel interviews.
Conditional Offer of Appointment: Human Resources will conduct a salary analysis for the top candidate and will extend a conditional offer of appointment.
Post-Offer Check: Human Resources will conduct a background check.
Start Date: A start date will be determined after all conditions of employment have been met.

Management, Administrative and Professional Personnel System (MAPPS) – FLSA exempt employees are paid on a salaried basis. The premise of salaried/exempt employment is that established compensation recognizes the time and effort needed to accomplish all assigned job duties. Job responsibilities may require work outside of the employee’s standard work week or a work week in excess of 40 hours.

This position is not represented under a collective bargaining agreement.

Regular and limited duration full-time employees working 30 hours or more per week and job share employees are eligible for benefits beginning on the first of the month following employment.
