The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) is looking for an individual with a passion for accounting to present and defend practices, and interpret complex reports and fiscal statements; resolve, reconcile and adjust for special conditions; and participate in developing, modifying, or enhancing appropriate fiscal policies, procedures and practices. You will need advanced skills in both utilizing and interfacing computerized finance systems, and in understanding system behavior related to unusual or specific circumstances. You will develop and interpret financial reports. You will also research financial problem areas and exercise decision making in recording and analyzing financial data.

Principle Duties
As a Budget Officer, you will:

Perform accounting or budget activities and provide fiscal information.
Interpret, clarify, explain and apply agency policy and procedures, business practices, federal or state laws and regulations, etc.
Analyze, summarize and/or review data; report findings, interpret results and/or make recommendations.
Develop rental usage rates for equipment operations.
Review fiscal operations to ensure integrity, accuracy and control of data.
Develop budgets including fund allocation, revenue collection, budget projection, expenditures, etc.

The Ideal Candidate
The best candidate for this position will have:

At least three years of professional related experience
Either 1) An Associate’s degree, or higher, in a business related field or 2) 30 semester hours in a business related field, with at least 18 semester hours in intermediate and advanced accounting (Transcripts or proof of degree must be provided)

Position is eligible for telework, based on supervisor approval
Working Conditions – Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.
Physical Requirements – Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items; driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.
Employee may be reassigned to a different location as deemed necessary by the Region Director/Group Leader.
