Job Description : MOUNTAIN REGIONAL WATER JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Customer Service Specialist Effective: 07/20
Department: Public Services Pay Grade: 10
GENERAL PURPOSE
Under supervision, performs a variety of routine customer service-related duties, clerical, and data entry work for preparation, posting, and maintenance of District records. Serves as receptionist as assigned.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Works under the general supervision of the Customer Service Manager.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Provides billing, payment and other account information to customers, District personnel and others;
Responds to customer inquiries in a timely and accurate way, via phone or email. Identifies customer needs and informs customers regarding online payment tools and meter reading software.
Prepares and monitors collection of billing for District services; researches and compiles relevant information; follows up delinquent accounts and bad debts; and performs related collection functions as assigned.
Creates and manages service orders in utility management software.
Acts as receptionist as assigned.
Operates a variety of standard and specialized office equipment; performs related general clerical work such as answering phones, filing, proofing, photocopying and collating.
Collects, sorts and distributes incoming and out-going mail and documents; prepares customer correspondence for mailing.
Performs other related duties as assigned.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Graduation from high school or GED equivalentAND
Two years of experience in customer service or billing and collections
ORAn equivalent combination of education and experience
2. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of: Basic arithmetic functions including decimals and percentages; basic accounting recordkeeping principals, practices and terminology; standard filing, indexing and cross-referencing method; standard phone etiquette and customer service principles.
Ability to: Make arithmetic calculations with speed and accuracy; perform detailed clerical work accurately and quickly; type accurately at 35 net wpm; quickly learn policies and procedures applicable to the Customer Service department; communicate clearly and objectively with customers; follow oral and written instructions; maintain sustained close visual and mental attention; establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
3. Special Qualifications (Certifications, Licenses)
Must possess a valid Utah Drivers License
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The physical demands here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Work is mainly performed in a normal office and meeting room environments. On occasion, the position requires the ability to travel on District business to attend meetings sites and facilities around or outside the District service area. The duties of the position require the ability to observe, talk, listen, and operate common office equipment including a computer, copier, and telephone. Occasionally, work requires lifting or moving up to 15 pounds.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $21.01 – $23.82 per hour
