Position : Drug Screening Tech
Job Description : Job Description: This position is responsible, with minimal supervision, for the collection of specimens for drug testing, and the reporting of results according to federally mandated regulations or non-mandated guidelines. This position is also a resource for employers and private individuals as it relates to conducting drug screens.
Job Essentials
Accountable for the collection of specimens per federally mandated regulations. Plans daily activities to ensure the prompt and efficient collection, pickup, and delivery of specimens and test results.
Organizes and facilitates off-site collection of specimens, with the accompanying paperwork ensuring that proper donor and employer information has been supplied, and is legally contestable.
Ensures test results are reported promptly to the appropriate parties following federal clerical mandated and non-mandated regulations.
Obtains all the necessary paperwork for employers/companies and is accountable to those employers.
Reviews specimens and the chains of custody for each specimen to assure accuracy and integrity.
Actively participates in quality improvement initiatives (i.e. CQI, TQM, Lean, 100% participation, etc.).
Minimum Qualifications
Current Breath Alcohol Technician Certification.
2 years of experience collecting specimens for drug testing.
Understanding of the Federal registry as it relates to drug and alcohol testing.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Physical Requirements:
Ongoing need for employee to see and read information including breathalyzer results, color coded test results on test strips, labels, supplies, and chain of custody paperwork.
Frequent interactions with applicants, employees, outside employers, EAP, Human Resources and mangers that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, needs, and issues quickly and accurately.
Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate specimen containers and frequent computer use and typing including documenting results, paperwork, accessing needed information, and driving a vehicle.
Need to walk and guide applicants and employees to drug testing room.
Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.
Expected to bend, lift, and carry files, documents, equipment, and supplies.
