Position : Psychometrist- DayRehab and Outpatient Centers, Registry/ PRN

Job Description : This Psychometrist will ideally float to help with coverage at our Homewood, Burr Ridge, Streeterville DayRehab and Outpatient Centers, along with occasional coverage at our Arlington Heights and Glenview DayRehab Centers.

The Psychometrist under direct supervision of a Psychologist, administers and scores a number of psychological/neuropsychological tests. Assists in scheduling testing sessions, escorts patients to and from testing area, completes files of test data for transfer to psychologist, and maintains supply of test materials.

The Psychometrist consistently demonstrates support of the SRALab statement of Mission and Philosophy by striving for excellence, contributing to the team efforts and showing respect and compassion for patients and their families, fellow employees, and all others with whom there is contact at or in the interest of the institute.

Principal Responsibilities

Coordinates with central scheduling and/or schedules directly testing time with patients and assists patients in attending testing sessions.

Develops rapport for valid test administration. Explains and assists patients in methods and techniques necessary for completion of tests. Assures patient safety in all aspects of service delivery.

Administers a variety of psychological and neuropsychological tests as directed by supervising psychologist. Uses judgment during testing sessions to modify types of measures and administration to assure valid and reliable results.

Performs computerized and/or manual scoring of all tests given, including use of judgment according to scoring guidelines for qualitative, subjective test responses. Provides detailed description of patient’s behavior during testing

Creates files for test data, including data summary sheets and delivers to supervising/ordering psychologist in a timely manner

Maintains inventory of test materials and requests new forms and supplies as needed; assists in anticipating needs according to use for budget planning

Completes time limited projects as requested by psychologists, such as testing research, developing disability accommodations for test equipment, procedures.

Evaluates own performance and development in relation to institutional and discipline specific standards. Maintains prescribed organizational competencies. Seeks continuing education and certification to stay current and/or advance in discipline specific practices.

Adheres to and conducts practice according to prescribed ethical codes of the organization and discipline.

Contributes to the success and advancement of the organization through appropriate productivity; contributes to efficient/effective delivery of services.

Perform all other duties that may be assigned in the best interest of SRALab.

Reporting Relationships

Inpatient: Reports directly to Lead Psychologist and indirectly to Director, Allied Health

Outpatient, Day Rehab: Reports directly to Clinical Manager

Working Conditions

Normal patient environment with little or no exposure to dust or extreme temperature.

Exposure to moderately adverse working conditions in performing certain patient care activities.

Occasional exposure to infectious diseases when working with patients.

Required Skills

Required Experience

Minimum of bachelor’s degree in psychology or related field.

Minimum of three to six months’ of on the job training and experience to become familiar with tests, equipment and proper methods of administration and scoring. Advanced training and certification or prior relevant work experience desirable.

Interpersonal skills necessary for effective communication with patients, families, psychologists and organizational administrators.

Analytic skills to exercise good judgment and problem-solving in delivery of clinical service.

Knowledge and application of general professional skills for attention to detail, accountability and follow through, flexibility and adaptability to changing work requirements.
