Position : Retail Associate (Part Time)

Job Description : Summary

The Retail Associate has a positive attitude and a drive to provide excellent customer service. This position assists in daily boutique operations such as sales and customer service. You will work side-by-side with job training participants and volunteers while serving the community. The Retail Associate is expected to perform a variety of cross-functional tasks in both in store and online environments. Candidates for this role should display the ability to perform essential retail skills. This position will report to the Social Enterprise Resale Assistant Manager.

Essential Functions

Provide excellent customer service instore and online by greeting, asking and answering questions, styling, monitor fitting rooms, problem solving, up-selling and maintaining knowledge of current sales, promotions and incentives

Serve as a MADE by DWC brand ambassador by sharing knowledge of the MADE story, values and businesses including The Café and MADE branded products, and contributing to department goals

Prepare merchandise for the sales floor according to the merchandise selection flow. This includes receiving incoming donations, quality control and pricing.

Practice loss prevention through customer service strategies

Work alongside staff, participants, and volunteers throughout the organization

Complete customer checkout by utilizing the POS to compute sale prices, total purchases, process cash, credit and gift card transactions, and make exchanges

Prepare, lead and present weekly online sales through merchandising products, writing descriptions and promoting products

Prepare and ship e-commerce, Poshmark and Instagram orders

Maintain a clean and presentable sales floor ensuring surfaces are cleaned and sanitized, floors are swept/mopped, mirrors and windows are clean

Perform daily visual merchandising by maintaining display shelves, styling mannequins and replenishing the sales floor

Perform opening and closing tasks including store cleaning, maintaining signage, recording sales and KPI goals, EOD checklist and assisting in POS procedures

Assist job training participants by providing coaching, assisting in training and supporting daily tasks

Other duties as assigned to support the operations of the store

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment
Greets all customers with fast, friendly, personalized service and develops a rapport with each customer. Responds proactively to address customer service situations if they arise. Reports all customer complaints to the Social Enterprise Resale Assistant Manager. Accurately manage POS transactions in a friendly and courteous manner. Answer telephone in a friendly manner including, greeting customers giving directions to store location, and/or answering inquiries about the product and/or DWC. Routinely cleans the store and supports with visual merchandising and inventory as necessary. Reports potential safety hazards, employee accidents to the Social Enterprise Resale Assistant Manager, communicating any operational inconsistencies.

Physical Demands

Frequently required to use hand finger motions, handle or feel objects, reach with hands and arms.
Able to stand and/or walk for an extended period of time.
Regularly required to lift and/or move items up to 35 pounds.
Must be able to adjust vision to both day and night lighting, and be able to focus on distant and close-range projects.
Regularly required to handle store inventory.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a Part-time position up to 29 hours per week Monday Saturday. Applicants must be available to work a variety of hours which may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and some holidays.

Required Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED required
Retail experience a plus

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

Must be a California resident and live at least 75 miles from the office and must be available for in-person meetings at the DWC offices.
Must provide documentation of a negative TB rest result within the last twelve months, on first day of hire.
Must provide documentation of a negative COVID-19 test result from the last seven days, on first day of hire.
You will be required to have received at least the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination to start employment with DWC, and second dose must be received within 30 days from the first day of hire.
