Job Description : The Department of Economic Security, Division of Aging and Adult Services, seeks an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Community Outreach Liaison with the Assistant Director’s Office. DAAS supports at-risk Arizonans to meet their basic needs and to live safely, with dignity and independence. Services and programs reach a diverse population of Arizonans.

You promote the wide variety of available services provided by the Division of Aging and Adult Services (DAAS) to help people achieve or maintain their highest level of independence and self-sufficiency. Educating, informing, and speaking passionately and earnestly about our services to diverse audiences and organizations statewide at a variety of community awareness events, conferences, meetings, etc. will be a major portion of your job. You build and maintain rapport with internal and external networks (e.g., agency staff, community organizations, hospitals, employers, shelters, non-profits, tribal nations, etc.). You Coordinate resources within the community and create brochures, pamphlets, handouts, etc. for distribution to the community and organizations.

This position works primarily from the successful candidate’s Arizona home office but statewide travel as well as in-person attendance at the worksite location for mandatory meetings, trainings, etc. is required. Worksite location: 1789 W. Jefferson, Phoenix, AZ 85007.

Job Duties:

Provide outreach, education, and information to a variety of individuals and organizations statewide regarding services available and provided by DAAS. Prepare for and participate at conferences, community events, meetings, etc. Distribute informational pamphlets, referrals for assistance, answer general questions, etc. Nurture new and old relationships with collaborative partners.
Collaborate with staff and community organization groups statewide to facilitate design, development, modification and implementation of projects and programs for new and recurring community engagements on behalf of DAAS (e.g., meetings, collaborations, presentations, and information booths) with the goal of increasing community awareness of services and available resources
Coordinate resources within the division and community. Represent the Division at meetings with other governmental jurisdictions and before various community groups.

using a variety of computer software packages (e.g., Excel, Word, Google Suite, PowerPoint, etc.)

Establish, build and maintain rapport with diverse individuals, groups within the community, and internal and external networks
Write clear, concise and accurate reports
Work independently, schedule and organize own time and manage multiple projects
Learn to apply and interpret applicable federal and state statutes and DES and DAAS policies and procedures

Selective Preference(s):

Prefer Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business administration, communications, social work, sociology or closely related field and 2 years of community relations, public affairs, outreach activities or non-profit fundraising experience; OR 1 year as a Human Service Specialist 3 in AZ state government. Experience in public speaking and presentations is highly desirable. Experience working in Adult Protective Services is desirable.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

In-state travel is required. Includes evening, some weekends and overnight stays and varies throughout the week with minimal advance notice. The position will require the possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.11). Individuals may be required to use their personal motor vehicle.
Candidates for this position shall be subject to a search of both the Child Protective Services Central Registry pursuant to A.R.S. 8-804 and the Adult Protective Services Registry pursuant to A.R.S. 46-459.
A.R.S. 41-1968 Employee shall have a valid, unrestricted Level One fingerprint clearance card issued pursuant to Arizona Revised Statute 41-1758.07 in order to work with children and vulnerable adults, prior to the start of their employment.
Successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify), applicable to all newly hired State employees.
Successfully pass background and reference checks; employment is contingent upon completion of the above-mentioned process and the agency’s ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions.

Retirement:
