POSITION DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Weekday School Assistant Director
REPORTS TO: Director of Weekday School
DIRECTLY SUPERVISES: Weekday School Staff with Director or in Director’s Absence
DATE: March 2022
JOB DESCRIPTION:
This full-time position is responsible for supporting and executing the Weekday School program, including the management of personnel involved with the Weekday School. The WDS program is to represent the Church in relationship to the families and children of the community. The WDS Assistant Director should be a faithful representative of AHUMC by living out the core beliefs, values and practices of the Christian faith as exhibited in the Holy Scripture, the life of Jesus, and the theology and Discipline of the United Methodist Church.
JOB DUTIES

Actively demonstrate and disciple others in following the examples of Jesus, embracing the theology of the United Methodist Church and living out the core values of Alamo Heights United Methodist Church (AHUMC).
Provide leadership and support of the Weekday School staff and teachers to include ordering supplies, completing maintenance request forms, and assisting in classrooms as needed.
Should demonstrate a thorough understanding of the State of Texas Minimum Standards for Child-Care Centers.
Meet regularly with the Director of the Weekday School.
Attend weekly AHUMC Staff meetings as needed.
Support the WDS Director with maintaining the facility spaces used by the WDS including the classrooms and playground, reporting any suggested repair and improvements to the Director of WDS.
Take attendance daily and cross reference with online attendance check in. Ensure an accurate count of children on campus daily.
Be available to help parents, staff, and teachers with questions regarding the school and its procedures.
Lead the WDS in the absence of the WDS Director.
Support all staff in maintaining certification in infant/child CPR and First Aid training as well as meeting their annual requirement of hours for continued education as outlined in the minimum standards. Ensure teacher records are complete and on file in WDS Office.
Ensure student records and health forms are complete and on file.
Maintain professional qualities in relationship with staff, parents and teachers. Support and encourage a professional environment among all staff. Written, oral and observed information is to be respected as confidential.
Support the WDS billing functions to include posting payments, depositing checks, collecting tuition and keeping record of payments.
Perform in-class observations to offer improvements and suggestions to WDS Director.
Maintain and organize the WDS Resource room. Assist teachers in locating or purchasing necessary supplies for daily operations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be in a childcare setting. Employee must be able to stand for long periods of time and be able to work outside on the playground. Position is active and is required to bend, twist, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, or change diapers. Employee must pick up and carry children occasionally and lift other items up to 25 pounds.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
The Assistant Director will:

Be a Christian and able to share the love of Christ with the children and families who attend the school.
Be comfortable leading the daily chapel time for the school in the absence of the WDS Director.
Have 2-3 years experience in Early Childhood learning environment.
Have excellent interpersonal, communication and leadership skills.
Have basic computer skills.
Have previous supervisory experience, preferred.
Be able to work with all levels of leadership and staff effectively.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $36,000.00 – $40,000.00 per year
