Job Description : Design Director
About The Role
In this role, you will be responsible for concepting and creating products in an extremely fast-paced and passionate environment. You will lead a team of designers and technical designers, in creating products that are on-trend, aligned with our brand identity, and exceed fit and quality expectations of our customers. The ideal candidate combines excellence in creativity, leadership, technical expertise. This position will report to the Creative Director.
What You’ll Do

Lead team through all aspects of the product design process, providing creative direction, coaching, and developing a motivated, high-performing team.
Collaborate with Creative Director and Fashion Director to create seasonal concepts, brand-right products, design calendars, and design strategy.
Research and identify new seasonal trends, silhouettes, fabrics, techniques, product categories and competitive inspiration.
Partner with Product Development and production teams to lead all fabric and trim developments based on seasonal concepts, to execute on calendar and at price.
Lead pre-production and tech design teams to create tech packs and communicate the vision behind fit and product design, ensuring execution, quality, and desired margin targets are achieved.
Responsible for daily, effective communication and direction with all overseas vendors.
Execute and design seasonal sketches/prototypes and provide specifications.
Design, recolor, and prepare fabric prints to be sent to overseas vendors for printing and execution.
Be a fit expert to drive exceptional fit consistency in our product and lead the tech team in their fit and garment construction development.
Build strong relationships with cross-functional partners: Merchandising, Planning, Marketing, and Production.
Anticipate/solve potential issues and provide conflict resolution.
Manage, inspire and develop junior design talent.
Ensure deliverables meet budget and time commitments without compromising design excellence.

Who You Are

Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, environment, with the ability to juggle multiple seasons at one time and track development deadlines.
Entrepreneurial, highly motivated self-starter with the ability to troubleshoot and problem solve.
Collaborative partner with a team-oriented approach and effective cross-functional communication
Ability to lead, influence, and develop a high-performing team of designers.
Possess an elevated sense of style, aesthetic, and color and understand how to translate trends through the lens of the customer and brand filter
Able to filter, prioritize, analyze, and validate potentially complex in-depth understanding of concepts and procedures throughout the product creation process related to garment construction, hand sketching, and fabric, and understanding of procedures and concepts in other areas, such as merchandising, product development, mills and vendors.
Strong understanding and design experience in women’s woven and lingerie including fit, construction and fabrics.
Flexible and creative problem solver.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, Illustrator, InDesign and Adobe Creative Suite
Bachelor s degree in Design or equivalent experience.
10+ years of design experience in a comparable retail environment.
