Job Description : Responsibilities
Venice Family Clinic is a leader in providing comprehensive, high-quality primary health care to people in need with compassion, dignity and respect. In November 2021, Venice Family Clinic merged with South Bay Family Health Care, uniting more than a century of experience helping patients regardless of their income, insurance or immigration status. The organization now has more than 500 staff who serve 45,000 people from the Santa Monica Mountains through the South Bay. We have 17 locations plus two mobile clinics and an expansive street medicine program for people experiencing homelessness. Read more about us at venicefamilyclinic.org. Under supervision of Revenue Manager and lead biller, you will be responsible for third party billing including local contracts/programs and grants. Major functions include managing a billing portfolio of assigned site, responding to correspondence and continuously work with the Front Desk, Coordinators, site managers and Medical staff to ensure completion of encounter. Ensure correct and timely reimbursement. Perform follow-up and collection of claims submitted. Complete and reconcile payments and make notations of any discrepancies. Assist in ensuring the logs such as payment/collections/progress are completed. Utilize and develop audit tools to ensure the integrity of system data. Follow the Billing Policies and Procedures. Perform all other duties as assigned or required by the supervisor.

Qualifications

Knowledge of State and Federal programs to ensure reimbursement from the State & Local contracts/programs and grants – Required.
Knowledge of health plan benefits to understand medical terminology and provider reimbursement methodologies.
Familiarity with HIPAA guidelines – Required.
Detail knowledge and understanding of the ICD-10 CM coding, and CPT coding classification – Required.
Working knowledge in the insurance verification process to determine benefit eligibility and interpretation of coverage – Required.
The biller should have strong analytical skills, including an ability to analyze claim data. Assist with development and maintenance of Policy & Procedures binder – Required.
Ability to analyze problems and formulate plans, solutions and a course of action. Set own priorities and work independently – Required.
Ability to multi-task and manage deadlines. Computer literate with emphasis in applications such a Microsoft Word, Excel,
Outlook (calendaring) and Managed Care software – Required.
Ability to scrutinize insurance data independently and evaluate information for clarity, accuracy and completeness – Required.
Ability to work as part of a team, establish and maintain professional relationships with physicians, staff and co-workers – Required.
Ability to plan, initiates, organized, and prioritizes assignments – Required.
Ability to establish and maintain an organized filing system – Required.
Experience with a 10 key – Required.
