Job Description : Responsibilities

The Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior is seeking to hire a full-time Programmer/Data Analyst to join the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences. You will be part of the Yang Laboratory team which is currently in the process of gathering unprecedented amount of high-resolution single-neuron morphological dataset from mouse brains in healthy conditions, during aging or in models of neurodegenerative diseases. Primary duties include:

Responsible for handling and processing data
Implementing and adapting existing software or developing new software to visualize, register, reconstruct, and produce digital imaging data output to be further analyzed
Training and providing technical support to lab members on software and pipelines
Designing, coding, testing, debugging, installing, writing support documentation, and maintaining complex software applications and hardware/network infrastructure support
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
Master’s or PhD degree in one of the following majors: neuroscience, mouse genetics, pharmacology, psychology, physiology, statistics, or computer science, with demonstrated skill/experience in programming and/or software development or Bachelor’s degree in related field with at least 2 years relevant working experience in programming and/or software development Skill in relevant statistical software applications, applications/systems development methodologies, business tools and techniques, various computer programming languages including but not limited to: Python, Java, R, C++, SQL, HTML, Pandas, Data visualization (Tableau, SAS, etc.) relevant bioinformatics data sequencing tools for statistical programming, Open source coding platforms (Linux, GitHub) (highly preferred) Ability to conceptualize desired tables and graphs and create them from raw data Ability to use journal and granting agency style guidelines to prepare manuscripts, proposals, reports, and bibliographies Ability to use software productivity software such as Word for Windows, Microsoft Windows, PowerPoint, Excel, Access Skill in planning, organizing, and writing presentations for professional audiences Knowledge of computer hardware and network infrastructure issues Extensive familiarity with scientific visualization and analysis software including but not limited to: R, Python, C++, MATLAB (preferred) Experience in deep learning, machine learning, and computer vision models and algorithm usage and development (preferred)
