Job Description : The Department of Population and Public Health Sciences is in search of a Research Project Interviewer with flexible skills is needed to join a research team at the University of Southern California to participate in studies of cancer survivors who have received genetic testing. The study, called the ‘GIFT’ Study, is designed to determine what survivors know about their genetic testing results and if they have communicated information about it to their relatives who may be at higher risk of cancer. A second phase involves inviting eligible participants to take part in an intervention designed to involve the relatives who may be interested in receiving genetic testing themselves. The work will involve assisting mailing initial surveys, following up to encourage response, sending the invitation for the intervention to eligible participants, and maintaining and updating a tracking database, and scanning questionnaires.
The ideal candidate will have strong organizational capabilities, be a team player who is willing to assist the study where needed, have a thorough understanding of the study that can be explained to study participants, have superb problem-solving skills, and a demonstrated ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks. The position requires obtaining Human Subjects Training certification. Flexible working hours including evenings and weekends may be needed when contacting study participants. Prior experience in a research environment is preferred. Bachelor’s degree in a health related field is preferred. Spanish language skills are preferred but not required.
Minimum Education: High school or equivalent Minimum Experience: 0 – 6 months Minimum Field of Expertise: Knowledge of data collection procedures and some experience with data analysis. Excellent interpersonal skills needed for interaction with participants.
