TURNER BIODIVERSITY PROGRAM SUMMARY
A division of Turner Enterprises, Inc., Turner Biodiversity is dedicated to conserving and restoring biological diversity on Turner Properties. These efforts are often in close collaboration with Turner Endangered Species Fund, applicable State and Federal wildlife and land managers, and other non-governmental organizations. Guided by the principles of conservation biology, Turner Biodiversity engages ecological issues with the aim of restoring individual species, species communities, as well as functional ecosystems. We endeavor to contribute to the advancement and distribution of reliable scientific and policy information.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibility of the Biological Technician will be to work closely with the Conservation Biologist to implement natural resources fieldwork and further the objectives of the Biodiversity Division.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Conduct native species restoration and management activities.
Work outdoors under potentially inclement conditions to collect biological data.
Work in and around water conducting aquatic sampling.
Safely operate ATVs and UTVs, as well as other powered equipment.
Receive written work orders or verbal instruction from the Conservation Biologist.
Participate in ranch safety program and ranch meetings.
All other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required. Related field experience and/or current or recent college enrollment in biological or conservation sciences is helpful. Fisheries or aquatic science experience is highly preferred. ATV experience is highly preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
The candidate must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. The candidate must have the ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
The candidate must have the ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. The candidate must have the ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
REASONING ABILITY
The candidate must have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
If position requires operation of a vehicle, the candidate must possess a valid Driver’s License or be able to obtain one within 30 days of employment. The candidate’s driving record must meet the standards and requirements of the Company and the Company’s insurance carrier.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
The employee must adhere to Company and Ranch policies and procedures, which are included in the Company’s Employee Handbook.
The employee must present documentation establishing both identity and employment authorization within three days of hire, pursuant to federal law.
The candidate may be subject to undergo pre-employment drug test, (after offer is given but before applicant has commenced work). Random drug tests are given throughout the year.
The employee must have a personal vehicle to travel from ranch location to local town for personal needs.
The Company operates as a drug free/smoke free workplace. Smoking is not allowed on the ranch property, to include but is not limited to; ranch housing, ranch vehicles, ranch offices or on ranch machines.
Capacity to operate alone, independently, and be a good team player a must.
A high level of organization, professionalism, and pride in quality performance is required.
An overall positive attitude, and direct, honest, and efficient communication with supervisor is necessary due to the nature of this position operating remotely and with a large degree of independence.
Flexibility with scheduling and physical and mental resiliency as this project takes place in a remote setting.
Must provide own cell phone to use while working remotely.
Overnight travel to temporary duty stations other than Bozeman.
