Job Description : General Function
Chaco is an iconic outdoor brand with market leadership in performance sandals, a high growth business in closed-toe performance and lifestyle footwear, and a dynamic accessories offering. The brand has achieved several consecutive years of industry-leading growth by creating remarkable connections with a tribe of loyal consumers known as ChacoNation.
The Color Designer I will develop innovative color direction and graphic options for assigned categories.
Primary Duties
Research color, graphic, and market trends that impact the product category process from product briefing to sales samples.
Work with key partners to determine the category-specific direction of color and graphics, as well as lead color blocking strategies on a seasonal basis.
Collaborate with our Design, Marketing, and Development teams to focus color solutions for market success.
Update colorways and graphics based on feedback at brand milestone meetings.
Communicate with key partners and maintain color calendar timelines and deadlines to ensure the timely completion of products for an assigned category.
Perform duties consistent with the Company’s AAP/EEO goals and policies.
Perform other duties as required/assigned by manager.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
Bachelor’s degree in Design, Art, or a related field or an Associate’s of Art degree from an accredited art school.
0-1 years’ experience in a design environment working with colors, palette development, and/or color trends.
Knowledge of the product design and development process.
Familiarity with product manufacturing processes including materials, fabrics, plastics, and pigments.
Ability to plan and execute the product color details and review all samples, troubleshoot for achievability issues, and clearly communicate changes in order to ensure timely completion of each project.
Thorough knowledge of art and design with a clear understanding of visual design concepts including color mixing, color compatibility, and color placement.
Thorough knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud applications, specifically Illustrator and Photoshop.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Normal office environment. Some travel may be required.
