TITLE
ENGAGEMENT AND ATTENDANCE ADVISOR
190 calendar – non exempt
POSITION OVERVIEW
This position is evolving and expanding as the research it’s based on develops over time. Join our team of educators to shape curricula on the cutting edge of research based practices. This role supports students to determine the root cause of attendance, academic and social/emotional issues that can lead to a failure to thrive in school. This position has opportunities for professional development, development and growth while creating a system of services to help those most in need.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Bachelor’s degree in education, juvenile justice, social work or related field, required.
2. A minimum of 3 years work experience in a correctional, educational or social service agency.
3. Successful experience in public relations, direct services and interagency collaboration.
4. Computer skills with word processing and database applications required.
5. Experience with student information software preferred.
6. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the LBL Board of Directors/Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.

GENERAL INFORMATION
This position has the following expectations and requisite abilities.
1. Maintain a high level of confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA, FERPA and adherence to the competent and ethical educator practices.
2. Maintain compliance with state and federal laws governing all aspects of our agency including ORSs, OARs, IDEA, FOIA and CIPA.
3. Promotion of equity and diversity in all settings and understanding and commitment to anti-racist principles.
4. Ability to work independently, prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy through utilizing standard workplace technology including the MS and Google office suites.
5. A thorough understanding of Oregon’s Attendance Laws, best practices for encouraging regular school attendance and alternative education.
6. Demonstrates flexibility and a professional disposition in working with co-workers, constituent district personnel, and the public.
7. Demonstrates exceptional skills in building and maintaining a positive culture, consensus building, and effective and efficient team facilitation.
8. Present self and LBL in a professional manner including maintaining professional dress standards.
9. Provide own transportation to numerous settings within a flexible work schedule that may include evenings and occasional overnight stays.
10. Ability to lift, carry or transport up to 25 pounds.
11. Ability to sit for extended periods of time in a vehicle or work setting.
12. Conduct oneself in accordance with the Standards for Competent and Ethical Performance of Oregon Educators.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
This is not necessarily an exhaustive or all-inclusive list of responsibilities, skills, and duties associated with this position. The supervisor of this position may modify this list at any time it’s deemed necessary.
1. Ensure that necessary procedural statutes, based on Oregon Attendance Laws, are followed in relation to referred students where truancy is an issue.
2. Assist school administrators in a collaborative process of assessing their school-wide multi-tiered interventions for maximizing regular student attendance. Provide follow-up to support their goals for improvement.
3. Participate in school and district attendance team meetings as needed.
4. Collect and provide attendance data for school and district team use.
5. Provide consultation and training to school staff related to best practices for encouraging regular attendance of all students.
6. Participate in school/community collaborative efforts to improve services and support to students with chronic absenteeism or truancy problems.
7. Provide early intervention services with referred students who are beginning to demonstrate irregular attendance.
8. Provide referral-driven and strengths-based intervention services to students and families where chronic absenteeism or truancy is an issue.
9. Utilize teleservice platform to provide services to educators, students and district staff as directed.
