Currently, Moda Health is seeking a Group Underwriter I. The Group Underwriter I, will quote and renew experience-rated and non-experience-rated groups in the 51+ market according to preset rating manuals and formulas. In addition to using and applying appropriate formulas, the Group Underwriter I will negotiate quotes and renewals within the limits set by our current renewing strategies and UW Guidelines

Primary Functions:
Apply correct quoting and renewal formulas to:
51+ medical and dental business
Fully-insured and ASO groups
Oregon,Alaska and Texas group businesses
Use various quoting/renewal templates
Review regular and large claims experience and assess risks for experience-rated quotes and renewals
Gather correct inputs/factors for renewal and quoting formulas
Produce accurate quotes and renewals
Perform other duties as assigned.

1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent specializing in mathematics, liberal arts, or health care industry.
2. Less than three years of related experience
3. Computer proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
4. Can comfortably apply and manipulate mathematical formulas.
5. Can clearly communicate technical results to non-technical audiences.
6. Pays attention to detail and strives to produce accurate work.
7. Ability to meet deadlines, project a professional image, and build positive relationships.
