Position : Assistant Director of Sports Broadcasting
Job Description : Overview: Sports Broadcasting provides recording and broadcasting of athletic events at Hillsdale College. Operation of sports productions take place from the control room located in the sports complex using a BroadcastPix switcher dLive audio mixer and Newtek 3play Slo-Mo.Responsibilities:Reports to the Director of Sports Broadcasting.Coordinate and direct sports control room for live feed and recording of events.Set up and operate sound and video equipment athletic contests that are live streamed.Set up and install equipment such as microphones, sound speakers, video monitors.Confer with and serve as liaison with athletic teams.Monitor and mix sound feeds to ensure quality.Create graphics for sports broadcasts.Editing using Adobe CC, PhotoshopEnsure equipment is installed according to designated layouts.Test and resolve equipment issues.Diagnose and correct media system problems.Coordinate audio/video feeds with television images.Send in equipment for repairs as needed.Switch video input sources during live event filming and streaming.Determine filming sequences and camera movements for athletic contests.Clean audio and video equipment and store properly.Ensure equipment the safe transfer and shipment of equipment.Digitize audio and video data, ensuring the safe storage and integrity of data.Duplicate audio and video data.Maintain Media budget for optimal fiscal accountability.Maintain inventory of equipment.Procure necessary equipment while forecasting future equipment needs.Oversee student workers.Seek training to enhance or learn new skills.Maintain confidentiality in all information.Qualifications: QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.*Education and Experience*Candidate should have five years of experience in broadcasting. A college degree in a related area is preferred.*Other Skills*Quick learner with the understanding that no task is too small. Must be a motivated self-starter who seeks out solutions.Comfortable with change and able to adapt regularly changing workflows.Ability to maintain a positive attitude and professional demeanor with interactions with clients and colleagues.*Physical Requirements*Frequently move, set up, operate, and tear down AVL equipment weighing up to 50 pounds in outdoor and indoor locations across campus.*Personal Characteristics*The Assistant Director interacts with College staff and the entire Hillsdale audience. A neat appearance and a pleasant relationship that is supportive of the College mission is essential.
