Job Description : Position Summary:
Lone Mountain Ranch Wranglers are responsible for care of our horses, preparing the herd for rides, leading guests on safe rides, teaching guests trail guidelines, instructing guests in lessons, child care on horseback, and specific health care of individual horses. Additionally, transporting horses, training horses, general building and maintenance skills, and many other skills may be required.
Qualifications:
* Substantial background working with horses.
* Confidence and experience riding all sorts of horses at all levels of training
* Background of working with people in a service-type industry.
* Experience teaching riding is a must.
* Experience training green horses is helpful.
* Experience hauling horses or livestock.
* Willingness to learn and to work various tasks.
* Should have most of your own gear and tack required for wrangling.
* Will need current CPR card and Red Cross First Aid.
* Experience doctoring common horse injuries and ailments.
* Wranglers must be able to fill out reports when needed.
* Must have a valid drivers’ license to take off-ranch all-day or lunch rides.
Specific Responsibilities:To possess a friendly and outgoing attitude with all the guests at all times.Sunday orientation; communicate all of Lone Mountain Ranch’s trail guidelines, Secure Seat method, and assist in the assessment of the guests.
* Daily care and feeding of horse herd.
* Grooming, saddling and treating each horse according to Lone Mountain Ranch standards.Taking guests on safe, informative rides daily.Teaching riding lessons when required.Learning as much as possible about the surrounding area and the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem to pass on information to the guests.
* Riding problem horses, green horses, or arena sour horses in a safe, knowledgeable manner to improve the ranch herd and enhance guest safety.
* Vet care of horses. Giving shots, doctoring wounds, etc.
* Cleaning of all tack and barn area.
* Fencing, construction or general barn and trail maintenance as needed.
* Driving truck & horse trailer for all-day rides or vet trips.
Wranglers should be willing and able to perform all of the above
duties, but the position is not necessarily limited to these functions.
Supervision:
This position is directly responsible to the Head Wrangler.
Compensation and Work Schedule:
The horse wrangler position at Lone Mountain Ranch is a seasonal summer position. Wranglers should be available to work from around May15th through October 15st. Some work may be available after that date,
but is not guaranteed.
Other Benefits:
Wranglers will be assigned horses as their ability allows. These horses will be available for the wrangler to use on their off-hours for pleasure riding. Limited on-ranch housing is available. The Ranch offers two meals a day to employees also wranglers are welcome to ranch BBQs to interact with guests. Ranch employees may participate in most ranch activities free of charge, and are eligible for special discounts in saloon and outdoor shop.
Hourly Employee & Seasonal Employee Benefits:
In addition to a great hourly wage, we think Lone Mountain Ranch offers more opportunities than most!
Seasonal Bonus Program:
All hourly employees will be able to participate in our seasonal bonus program. Each hourly employee will receive $1 per hour worked per season and $1.50 per overtime hour worked. Employees who are terminated or resign from their position before the end of each season, will not be able to participate in this program. If the season is cut short due to business levels, the employee will still participate in this program. Positions that are contracted at a shorter term, like the Outdoor Youth Adventures program, this employee will be able to participate in this program. All hours worked outside of these seasonal ranges will not apply to this bonus program. The range of dates is described below.
May 15th- October 31st
November 15th- April 15th
Staff Cafeteria:
We also want to keep you hydrated and nourished. So you will have access to our staff cafeteria which provides 3 meals a day, as well as a large selection of grab and go items to suit anyone’s day.
Ranch Gratuity:
In addition to your hourly rate, you will receive a ranch gratuity unique to us, which averages $2-$6 per hour worked, dependent on business levels and LMR staffing count. I know right?!
Ranch Wide Activities:
We also understand that every full work week requires a little me time. And what better way to unwind than to take advantage of the many summer activities the ranch has to offer? As long as there are openings, you have free access to the following in the summer season: horseback riding, Outdoor Youth Adventures Program, Yellowstone National Park Tours, yoga, and mountain biking. During the winter months, you will have access to 50 Miles of world renown cross country ski trails right outside your back door.
Health Insurance:
If you remain with us and worked a minimum of 1560 hours in a 12 month look back period, from your first day of employment, you are eligible for medical, dental, life and vision insurance. This will be effective the first of the month following 30 days of your full-time employment hire date or status. The Ranch will pay for 80% of the premiums for employees and any dependents. Employees will be responsible for paying the remaining 20% of the premiums. Payment is deducted automatically from the employees semi- monthly pay check at a pre-taxed rate.
Arrival
While we know that we are in one of the most beautiful and sought-after destinations in America, we also know we are a little off the beaten path. The ranch will provide complimentary transportation to and from the airport, should come to us by air. Once you get on property, you may feel a little altitude. After all, this historic ranch is nestled into this beautiful valley at 6600 ft. so we will have a high-altitude amenity package waiting for you, compliments of your new team members.
