Role Description
The Cloud PaaS security Engineer will be working with DWS strategic cloud infrastructure architects and CISO on solutioning, directing, and leading the delivery of overall cloud setup and application migration. The focus of the role is to bring niche cloud infra expertise and support/execute against the DWS business and overall IT strategy by providing a secure, reliable, flexible, sustainable and cost-efficient cloud environment leveraging modern cloud methodologies and tooling. Your key responsibilities
As you help us shape our new environment and ways of working your responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:
Provide a framework for application developers to build cloud-based applications
Focus will be on operating systems, middleware, databases and development tools
Being responsible for supporting the security aspects of cloud technologies and platforms- this will include PaaS, automation and orchestration (experience in do so is of paramount importance)
Assessing current security implementations, including designing and implementing controls to drastically reduce risks on cloud platforms
Establishing and instilling industry leading standards and practices within Infra security engineering and implementing CISO controls and policy
Building strong working relationships with DevOps, CISO, Application development teams and providing security leadership
Maintain a good working knowledge of current infrastructure and future trends
Work with the third-party suppliers of the Security Products
Maximize security value from existing investments
Work collaboratively with wider Information Security team, Incident response team, assisting with incidents; and with the Security Consultants to provide additional technical knowledge
Take part in post incident reviews and propose engineering resolution to improve results in any future recurrence
Oversee cloud infrastructure build and management of the estate by working with service partners
Your skills and experience
You will have excellent DevOps knowledge and experience at enterprise level along with a technically inquisitive and delivery focused mindset. The following is a list of technical areas you should have a deep understanding of along with examples of specific technologies where we would expect either demonstratable experience or an understanding of their function in a modern cloud environment.
Candidate should have strong knowledge of virtualization fundamentals, including server virtualization, desktop virtualization, and storage and network virtualization
Experience architecting, implementing, and designing cloud security capabilities in areas of network security, data protection and application security practices and environments within GCP
Proven experience of supporting and designing IT/Security Infrastructure
Strong technical background
Hands on experience with atleast 1 of the main cloud platform (Google Cloud Platform, Azure)
Experience of Cloud Security Tools
Ability to pick up and learn new technology approaches and make rapid decisions on the best way to use these technology advancements for the betterment of the overall security posture.
Excellent communication skills as the ability to communicate effectively, constructively, confidently and professionally is key to the success in the role as is the ability to work with IT and Information Security teams and the wider business.
Keen attention to detail and excellent analytical skills.
Ability to actively manage workloads to meet business and department requirements.
