Team Description
Data Management & Governance (DMAG) team is part of AM’s Data, Digital and Distribution organization. The core objective of the team is to ensure that the data across business & client service platforms (CRM, Data Warehouse etc.) remains of top quality, strategic and keeps pace with an ever changing client and regulatory environment. DMAG team is focused on driving the data agenda forward, building on and supporting the overall CRM platform, Data Warehouses and data capabilities across the Client’s lifecycle.
The team in India is responsible for supporting a diverse range of business process and reporting needs across our Asset Management organization. It plays a pivotal role in the data management/governance stream to help generate vital business/strategic insights for decision making. The team also maintain and support data warehouse initiatives globally.
The role requires leading a team which engages, and works closely with the Distribution teams, and their partners (Client Service, Marketing, Product, Finance, Data Delivery/Business Intelligence and Technology).
Job Specification
We are seeking highly motivated and self driven candidates with a unique blend of leadership, interpersonal and analytical skills. In addition to functional responsibilities, the lead is expected to act as a key engagement point with global teams and lead a highly motivated team for both qualitative and quantitative agenda of the group.
In this role, you will be expected to apply your data management & governance background in order to make important contributions across a diverse array of projects and support functions. The role will require managing a team which is engaged in in-depth data engineering, data manipulation, exploration, and analysis on a day to day basis. We are a highly collaborative team – so you will have significant potential for learning and creating an impact so as to add value to the organization.
Functional Responsibilities:

Contribute to build data as “asset” for the AM Client organization. Provide recommendations on data best practices, technologies, industry trends.
Focus on building and driving strong stakeholder engagement across business functions, technology partners and extended global teams to provide relevant data solutions
Ideate, initiate and lead business process engineering initiatives – Apply critical thinking to troubleshoot issues, proactively identify gaps and develop new ideas / innovations that will add value to the business and team
Drive the team to strategically achieve highest levels of data modernization and integrity across client journey by deploying right governance and design strategy on client data
Create and enforce policies with regards to data acquisition, rationalization, maintenance and modifications for internal and external data sources. Plan, exercise oversight, and control over management and use of data and data-related sources/applications (like CRM system, Salesforce, data warehouse capabilities and other client data applications)
Responsible for data management activities like Trade Transparency / Attributions, company/contact data management, global data maintenance & governance, manage data models / workflows, integrations, stewardship & enhancements
Provide deep knowledge of application / data warehouse functionality and requirements and drive workshops, planning and execution
Strong knowledge of data architectures, ability to understand data flows and implement effective data management techniques (includes performing root cause analysis, data wrangling, UATs, Bulk Upload, monitoring/reconciling data feeds from various sources and ensuring implementation of controls/governance in smooth transition over into the systems)
Oversee conceptual, logical and physical data models that conform to standards and conventions.
Using Data Quality tools, build, test, and execute logical business rules for quality based on the requirements as defined by data owners.
Initiate / support various global projects – Develop and manage projects, ensure timely quality deliverables and report project progress.
Ability to interpret system / business requirements and prepare specification and design document.
Lead ongoing release management to continuously enhance the solutions; act as a link between the business stakeholders and Technology / vendor during the design, build, test and implementation phases
The lead should develop in-depth subject matter expertise as well as guide the junior resources on the team with function/domain
Responsible to build a scalable and sustainable organization, manage controls agenda, and have defined engagement & governance model with key stakeholders with identified metrics and performance parameters.
Drive collaborations/partnerships with related functions/groups in the broader organization and drive team integrations

Qualifications:

Relevant industry experience and knowledge of sales process, MBA (Finance)/Engineering is a plus.
Strong academic background with established analytical, programming and technical skills (Certifications in CRM, Data Management/Analytics & Data warehouse domain is preferable)
Experience working with an industry recognized CRM platform (Salesforce.com is a plus)
Experience with databases and data analysis software – proficiency with SQL/Python/BO/Alteryx is a plus
Strong experience in key areas of data management including data architecture, engineering modeling, data quality, data security
Strong Microsoft office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Excellent communicator (written and verbal) with strong interpersonal skills
Experienced people manager adept at working in matrix organization and managing dynamic high performance teams

Skills:

Understanding of Asset Management business (Investment Management, Mutual Funds, Managed Accounts, and/or Separate Accounts) preferable
A passion for technology, financial services and asset management
Demonstrable professional user story writing expertise and presentation/story telling skills
A balanced approach combining judgment, analytical rigor, curiosity, open-mindedness and creativity
Ability to delve into details with a view to proactively solve issues, develop new ideas and add value to existing functions
Ability to build and drive high performing teams, motivated teams
Strong project management skills
