FISCAL ANALYSIS DIVISIONASSISTANT OFFICE MANAGER
The Legislative Counsel Bureau (LCB) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Assistant Office Manager within the Fiscal Analysis Division. The LCB is a nonpartisan agency which provides professional, technical and administrative support to the Nevada Legislature. The Fiscal Analysis Division provides independent review and analysis of budgetary and fiscal matters for the Nevada Legislature during legislative sessions and the interim period between sessions . The Fiscal Analysis Division staffs the Senate Committee on Finance, the Assembly Committee on Ways and Means, the Senate Committee on Revenue and Economic Development, and theAssembly Committee on Revenue. The Fiscal Analysis Division also staffs the Interim Finance Committee, the Interim Retirement and Benefits Committee, the Joint Interim Standing Committee on Revenue, and the Economic Forum .
Position Description: The Assistant Office Manager works under the direct supervision of the Office Manager. The individual in this position works closely with the Office Manager to coordinate the administrative support unit of the Fiscal Analysis Division. In the absence of the Office Manager, the Assistant Office Manager supervises the division’s administrative staff, establishes work priorities and schedules and adjusts as necessary to meet work demands, and reviews timesheets. The Assistant Office Manager assists the Office Manager with personnel-related tasks, including completion of personnel forms; mentoring and training administrative staff; preparing and updating interim and session procedure manuals and resource materials; providing secretarial support to professional staff; and overseeing special projects as assigned . The individual in this position may also be assigned to an interim committee, which requires coordinating meeting arrangements, preparing agendas and other meeting materials, and transcribing meeting minutes. During the legislative session, the administrative support unit assists analysts in the division with proofreading and the production of a large amount of high-quality work under a tight time schedule. The Assistant Office Manager assists the Office Manager in directing the workload of administrative staff during the legislative session to ensure deadlines are met .
Salary and Benefits: The annual salary for this position is based on a Grade 33, which has a salary range of $47,188 to $69,739, based upon the employee/employer paid retirement option. The actual starting salary will be determined based upon experience. Benefits include accrual of paid annual leave, paid sick leave, health insurance and membership in the state’s retirement plan. Qualifications: Graduation from high school or equivalent experience is required. Four years of progressively responsible relevant work experience is highly preferred. The successful applicant must be able to work closely with the Office Manager and perform a high-level review of work products. The Assistant Office Manager must be able to work under pressure and produce a large quantity of work products of superior quality in a timely fashion. The candidate must demonstrate excellent proofreading and editing skills. In addition, computer experience with multiple software programs (Microsoft Word and Outlook and Adobe Acrobat), and exceptional typing, grammar, writing and communication skills are required . The successful applicant must be able to handle changing priorities in a fast-paced environment, especially during the legislative session. This position requires a professional demeanor, strong organizational skills, the ability to plan and prioritize tasks, and attention to detail . The position requires a high level of confidentiality, a strong work ethic, and reliability . The successful candidate must be able to work independently and with a team depending on the assignment .
Location: The offices of the LCB are mostly based in Carson City, Nevada, within and adjacent to the Legislative Building. In addition, the LCB maintains offices in Las Vegas. The Legislative Building is approximately 20 minutes from Lake Tahoe, 20 minutes from Reno, and 3.5 hours from San Francisco. The Legislative Building shares grounds with the State Capitol Building and the Supreme Court Building, providing a beautiful and pleasant work environment. Carson City and the surrounding areas offer an array of housing options. In addition, Carson City sits at the base of the beautiful Sierra Nevada mountain range and offers world class skiing and golfing as well as hiking, biking, and various other outdoor activities and cultural events, not to mention an estimated average of over 265 days of sunshine each year!
Working Environment: The work is performed in a typical office environment . Work hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Significant overtime is mandatory during legislative sessions, including weekends. Overtime is compensated at time and a half. In addition, in lieu of monetary compensation, some overtime may be taken as compensatory time to allow additional paid time off during the interim periods between the biennial legislative sessions. A flexible work schedule and some work from home may be available during periods other than during the legislative session.
