Job Description : JOB TITLE: Grant Writer JOB CODE: 32298FLSA: Exempt GRADE: S13
JOB SUMMARY: Develops and writes grant applications in response to federal, state, local and foundation funding solicitations.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Identifies resources needed for project, including identifying, recruiting and recommending personnel for grant-funded project (e.g., coordinator, project presenters/instructors) and recruiting agencies and community organizations that could serve the grant project (may solicit their support, input, participation, etc.).
Writes and prepares final grant application, including the grant budget. Ensures adherence to all guidelines and deadlines and prepares graphics for grant applications: matrix, calendar of activities, etc.
Researches, identifies and reports to administrators/faculty on grant funding opportunities and RFP’s.
Researches the area of the request for proposal and gathers data as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree in related field or combination of education, training and experience that equates to the required degree.
Two years of related experience.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Two or more years of experience writing successful federal and/or state grant applications.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS: Must possess a valid Texas driver license and be insurable through the organization’s insurers.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Strong interpersonal skills and diplomacy.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Advanced computer skills (word processing, desktop publishing, spreadsheets).
Ability to locate, research and write grant applications.
Ability to persuade and influence others.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: None
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work is performed within routine office environment with no exposure to hazardous or unpleasant conditions. Physical demands are usually limited to sitting or standing in one location much of the time. Some stooping, lifting or carrying lightweight objects may be required.
SECURITY SENSITIVE: Specific job requirements or physical location of some positions allocated to this classification may render the position security sensitive, and thereby subject to the provisions of section 51.215Texas Education Code.
